Best places with large portions?

This post came about from another Dissers posting a question on how to save on food at the world. I didn't want to hijack his thread!
Anyway, a lot of replies suggested splitting or sharing meals. So my question is where? I've never been able to do this at the world. I have 3 sons and I realize that young boys may eat a bit more but me & dH have never been able to really split a meal. I mean at a CS a hamburger combo w/fries is pretty normal size to me.

So where are all these places that serve enough for 2 adults? I need recommendations.

At Pecos Bill last time I split a bbq pork sandwich and fries with another adult. I can split the food at cosmic chicken as well. A lot of times splitting is for me and a child as well. I usually have a snack later in the day so I can split a lunch.

I'm curious, too...I can share a CS with my 2-year-old, but only if I supplement with an extra applesauce for him or something. I'm lucky if I can get DH to give me even a french fry from his meal, and I wouldn't call him a huge eater ;)
Often DH & I will share a large Coke to save a little, since we bring water bottles into the parks.
Oh - one exception I can think of is Tusker house at AK (which I hear they're converting to character meals eventually). 2 rotisserie chicken meals there is plenty for the 3 of us. (But, again, one still wouldn't be enough for DH & I.)

The Tangerine Cafe in Epcot has HUGE portions. We will often get the chicken meal and split it. It is a half chicken and curried rice for $10. Pecos Bills is always good to split.

Or , at Pecos Bills, order the double bacon cheeseburger combo and order an extra bun (it's about 80 cents). Take one patty, slide it over onto the new bun and then go load up the fries and the burgers from the condiments area. Sauteed mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, it's a bonanza! Plus, hot cheese for the fries.

We split 2 for 3 most places in Janury on the DDP and were always full. We had a lot of food at Columus Harbor House in MK ( fish and chicken platter), The CS in future world that has the robot(sorry can not think of the name right now)-The 1/2 chicken 1/2 rib with fixins was huge. The electric umbrella at Epcot has huge delicious double burgers (buns for the guys, patty and lots of fixins on the bar for me.

Breakfast platters at the food court, ribs at flame tree bbq also offered enough for us. We did add a SC fries or a muffin or fruit cup these places.

Only place we did not have enought to share was the mexican place in epcot.

Remember you can always go back for more food if you need it or grab an ice cream later!!!!

WE took no food and spent 0.00 out of pocket and ate very well! WE did not share TS but often took desert back to the room for a snack. Aslo ate plenty of icecream and dole whips and a few other snacks.

I think this is the only one I disagreed with, MSSandra, I thought the breakfast platters were worse than the ones at Mcdonalds (size wise, not taste wise :rotfl: ) We don't do them anymore because my sons & Dh usually want two each.

Thanks for the other tips though, usually food is the biggest part of my budget and while I'd like to trim the budget, I don't want to walk around the park with a hungry family.

We have split meals at...
LLT
Tony's
Flame Tree BBQ
Marrakesh

:) Should have split at...
Beaches and Cream
The Plaza
Rose and Crown
50's Prime Time

OH...I was so full when I left!

Another thing we do to save $$$ is to buy kid's meals for everyone at a counter service place. They are usually under $5 including drink and it's enough to get us through until dinner. Or we have a big meal for lunch (it's cheaper) and then have a kid's meal for dinner. We have done this in the Land @ Epcot, the place by Lights, Motors, Action @ MGM (great chicken wraps), and I can't remember the others...

I agree that the portions at 50's PT were quite large. I ordered the fried chicken meal and it came with 3 big pieces: 1 breast, 1 drumstick, 1 thigh, along with veggies and mashed potatoes. It was definitely enough for two...especially if you split an appetizer as well.

DS15 and I split the fried herb cheese appetizer and the fried chicken at 50's Prime Time cafe (they even seperated it in the kitchen). We both had plenty, yet room enough for dessert!
