Hello;

I haven't seen very many threads about off-site restaurants & recommendations. Can we start one?

We're looking for good quality, fresh food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, or require 2 hours of sitting time to eat. Can anyone out there (especially anyone who lives near or in Orlando) help out with advice & reviews?

Cheers!

I've been debating whether to try Giordano's pizza. Deep-dish pizza is something that *cough* I have never eaten yet. Has anyone tried theirs, is it good?

We've been enjoying Giordano's deep-dish and stuffed pizza up here in Chicago for over 20 years!! Yummo!! If you think you'd like tons of gooey cheese and bread-like crust, I say give it a try...my family loves it.

In what actually is MANY threads regarding mid-priced (or any price really) of site restaurants Giordano's always shows up early & often as highly rated and different. We love both the deep dish AND the thin. Thin spinach being my personal favorite while the girls of the family prefer deep dish pepperoni and/or pineapple.

No matter if we head Northwest to Chicago or south to Florida Giordano's is a MUST stop!

We like Sweet Tomatoes, Fuddruckers for hamburgers, Unos for deep dish and flat crust pizza but they also have dinners and sandwiches, Golden Corral and Sonnys BBQ (I think the closest is in Orlando).

Over by Fudrruckers an Sweet Tomatos is TGIFridays we have had good luck there never had to wait for table but we always been a party of 2. The TGIFridays out on 192 across from Olive garden was nasty but there another one on down to the west that is good oh on the west side of disney the Red Lobster is good we usually go 3 or 4ish between lunch an dinner crowd works well but the Red Lobster on east side of disney was NASTY

I guess what some people's idea of mid $$ is and others is far different. I would consider most of those listed here (TGI Friday's, Giordano's, Golden Coral, Sweet Tomatoes) to be cheap. Mid range would be more like Outback, Bahama Breeze, Nick's Grill for dinner, or most Disney TS restaurants. High end would be more like Ruth's Chris. Guess everyone has their own opinions?

My husband and I are trying to find places/things to enjoy in Orlando that we can't get up here in Canada.

So.... with that in mind, I think we're going to try a few of the following;

Bahama Breeze
Giordano's
Sweet Tomatoes
Season's 52 (the concept really intrigues me)

Or if we decide to spend more money, we might spring for:
Roy's
Texas de Brazil (although I'm not sure I could eat enough to justify those prices!)

I'm also trying to find more of the locally owned, mom&pop type of places. Any recommendations there?

La Creperia Cafe
9101 International Dr
Orlando, FL 32819
(407) 370-0008

I've gone to the one in Tampa and they are owned by the same folks. this is a very unique meal- and there are $25 gift certs avail thru restaurant.com where you can use the 80% off code- and pay $2 for the $25 off $35 gift card. There are pasta, wraps, sandwiches & salads in addition to the crepes but the savory crepes are very filling and there's enough variety to suit most tastes (I'm super picky) I highly recommend it!

My wife and I went to lunch at Celebration Town Tavern (mentioned by a PP) last month and it was $92, which is more than Golden Corral but less than the English Pub at Epcot. I took a bunch of pictures of the food and the menu, they are here:

You will see pics of the food then a bit further down I went back and took pics of the menu because someone thought it was too expensive and I wanted them to see you could get sandwiches, salads, etc., for a lot less than we spent.

It looks like a good place. One could spend even less if they only got one or even no appetizer and no alcohol. My wife and I don't often drink when we go out. Every once and a while we may order a sangria or bottled beer, but very seldom. Never eaten at Reglan Road at DTD, so couldn't compare prices there. May have to add this place to our list for a future visit.

Every restaurant in downtown Celebration seems to be very good. There's an Irish, Italian, Japanese, Cuban/Spanish, a "comfort food/diner type" place, a bar/pub/restaurant that serves New England style seafood, etc.

Hello;

Search around -plenty of old off site threads for food

Toto's right, and I linked the main thread above. It's been running for over 5 yrs. and is probably the reason it seems like there aren't many threads on the topic, because I think everyone returns to add their recommendations there.

The list and choices are endless on that thread :woohoo: .
