Best place to view Wishes without entering the Magic Kingdom

the beach at the Polyn

4th floor - outside balcony - at the CR

just outside the CR on the MK side

TTC - where the ferry and monrail are located.

We watched last year from the beach at Poly...we missed the music but it was very nice not fighting the crowds. I've heard you can watch from the Contemporary on the 4th floor, I think, with music piped in.

While my favorite place outside of the MK is the CR 4th floor balcony, I don't remember them playing the Wishes music. The other place to see it (where there was music piped in) is the boat dock at Grand Floridian. The only issue with the CR balcony is that it is so close you get a different perspective on the simultaneous fireworks. For example, looking back through my photographs I couldn't find the "hidden" Mickey firework (which I thought was part of Wishes. The view from the GF is more straight-on.

This is pretty hypertechnical so I suggest you do see it from as many perspectives as possible and make up your own mind.

How about from the comfort of your home on you tube! Or if you must rub it in that you will be in Florida without me I would also recommend the Poly or GF.

Exactly where is the 4th floor balcony in relation to Chef Mickey's (which is also on the 4th floor, I believe)?

The music is supposed to be piped out onto the Poly beach. There are these mushroom-shaped speakers all around the grounds that softly (and not in stereo) play Polynesian music constantly, so if you stake out a spot a few minutes early, make sure you can hear that music playing and you will be able to hear Wishes. I have heard stories about people not hearing it, don't know if there were technical difficulties with the sound system on those nights or if people weren't sure where to stand.

1) The employee parking lot at Wilderness Lodge.
2) Except for some very, very low effects, the view is really great.
. . . exit WL main lodge entrance and follow driveway to right
. . . turn right at bottom of drive
. . . walk across roadway into employee lot
. . . walk to the far end

NOTE: The employee lot is also the overflow guest parking lot, so no problems.

The beach at the Poly is a good location. When my daughter and I watch from there last March, it was pretty empty...I don't remember if the music was piped in or not.

We've also watched Wishes from Ohana. The music is piped in and the view was pretty good from where we were sitting, but of course you can't be guaranteed a table in viewing distance of the fireworks.

Music was definately piped through the speakers when we were there last week. We heard it perfectly and the beach was not very crowded-great place to watch if you are interested in a little more privacy.

We really enjoyed watching the fireworks from the boatdock at GF(by accident). We had just finished dinner at 1900 Park Fare and our waiter told me he had requested a firework performance to honor my birthday(or something to that effect;) ) and gave us directions to the boat dock. We had planned on just returning to POR so it was a nice treat...I think we could hear the music from Narcoossee's?

My DD(who was 4 at the time) kept asking why all these other people were watching her mom's fireworks!!

That's a great story.

Was the dock crowded when you were there?

Here's another vote for O'Hana's. We've eaten there twice and been fortunate enough to be close enough to the windows at fireworks time both times. They dim the lights a bit and pipe in the music. Very cool!

Third floor landing of outside Tokelau stairway at Poly (we were staying two rooms from the end).

Also, outside at California Grill. I think you can almost hear the music from the park. Your waiter will have the kitchen work your order around the fireworks (so your food doesn't come out while you're outside watching them).

MassJester: the dock was not crowded at all...I think a boat had just left and we stood/sat on the bank and watched from there...great view!:3dglasses
