What is the best location, closest to the International Gateway, to view Illuminations? We would like to see the show on our arrival night, but are hoping to make a quick exit back to Beach Club immediately following the show because we plan to rope drop at MK early the next morning.

Bridge between UK and France.
(6a on the maps below.)

We have watched illuminations from the bridge, sometimes the wind blows the smoke that way though. So if you are standing there and the wind is in your face, you might want to move!

The bridge is a great place as stated above. If you want out of Epcot at the IG exit, the walkway towards Boardwalk, it is also a bridge area is very nice as well!

Good point. I always check the American flag on top of the American Pavilion building to check wind direction.

In @Robo's first map I have done 6a and that is fast to get out IG as Robo said. Also, when there no party, 8s is really nice.

Thank you so much to you and also Robo! Great info & maps! About 12 years ago we did the illuminations cruise which stopped right underneath one of the bridges by 6A or 6B and it was a pretty windy night, so we caught a lot of smoke. We will definitely check out the direction that the wind is blowing. The American flag tip is very helpful :) Thanks, all!

A. That would be under bridge 6A.
(Look at the #7 on the legend for that information.)

B. Yes. Always check the wind direction,
however, there is no particular reason to expect the wind to be blowing west any more than
any other direction on any given night.
Sometimes it blows west, sometimes not.
