Best place to view fireworks at MK? at EPCOT?

Well, we have finally done it! We have our first family trip for WDW planned and booked for this summer! I can't wait! I have a question for those that have been there before. I have seen mixed reviews on the experience of the fireworks show. We will be staying off site so we will have to deal with the exiting crowds to the parking lot - someone said it took them 2 hours to depart?
Seems to me that that would certinly kill the "magic" and put a damper on an early rise the next am since the fireworks show is scheduled for 10 pm. I had considered doing a late meal at the ohana & viewing from there & then checked the schedule & the show isnt until 10!
What has your experience been? What do you suggest? Can the fireworks be viewed from anywhere else that would be an easier exit & what about the music- is it broadcast anywhere?
What about the illuminations show at EPCOT is departure just as bad?
dd's are 6 and 9 years old & we plan on early start in the parks. I appreciate your feedback.

Hi and welcome to the DIS You have certainly come to the right place for help. Depending on when you go during the summer it can take some time to exit the parks after the fireworks--especially MK. I think a good place to watch Wishes is in the area near the flagpole by the train station. It is very close to the exit so when the fireworks end you can make a quick getaway. Once you exit, head for the resort monorail-both monorails make stops at the TTC but the line is usually shorter for this one.
For Illuminations I would think somewhere near Mexico would be a good place for making a quick exit. We stay at the BCV so we usually just walk back to our resort after Illuminations.
