Best place to stay on gulf coast and WHY/

We are from the UK we do not know Florida at all, help us to decide where to stay by giving your favourite resorts for families and why you like them. We are willing to travel down as far as Naples or north of Orlando for our 2nd weeks holiday after Disney

The Ritz-Carlton is one of the better bets in terms of customer service and satisfaction, at least it was back in 1998!

Oh boy.........tough question! There are so many beautiful locations along the Gulf, it is hard to just pick one!!

Boca Grande ~ beautiful little island, great for shelling!
Englewood ~ very nice, many conveniences near!
Venice ~ very nice, great beach for finding shark's teeth!
Sanibel Island / Captiva Island ~ very beautiful, great for shelling!
Palm Island ~ quaint little island, very secluded!
Anna Maria Island ~ very nice, many conveniences near!
Tierra Verde / Maderia Beach / Redington Beach / Indian Rocks Beach / Clearwater Beach ~ all very nice, but more commercialized and busy!
