Best place to stay for Marathon

I am planning to do the Marathon in 2010 and wanted to know from the Marathon vets out there where the best place to stay is. I know the marathon starts at Epcot, so is it possible to stay at Beach Club and walk to the starting line?

I think you can walk back to your hotel from the finish but will have to take a bus to the start.

The only resorts you can walk from are PO (can't remember FQ or R) and OKW. You won't be able to walk from BCV.

SOem will differ, but dh adn I love teh am experience going on teh buses and soaking up the atmosphere that morning adn would not trade being able to walk to the start fr anything. JMO.

You can not walk to the start from Board walk or Yacht&Beach. You take a bus, EPCOT will not be open for you to walk through it.
Also a note, if you plan to walk back through EPCOT after the race to one of those hotels - YOU NEED YOUR PARK TICKET. Otherwise, just take the bus back. Any hotel is good and the chartered buses operate very well. I do like to stay at the POLY, now don't get me wrong, I am a POP century Girl. But this past year I stayed at the POLY as a surprise to my Mom and LOVED IT. Liked getting on the Monorail in the AM and heading over to EPCOT. Easy for my cheering squad to walk over to TTC and then monorail to MK and then monorail back to EPCOT to see me finish during the Half Marathon.

I love staying at BWV and walking back through park to room(and not having to ride bus again). Helps loosen the legs up !

Monorail resorts are quickest and easiest but you pay for it.

If walking to start be careful as lots of traffic going on it the morning.

Last year I stayed at POP during marathon weekend and will be doing so again this year. It is a great price, and the transportation to/from the race and expo was great. There was always busses out front waiting to take people where they had to go. If you are looking to save some money, POP is a great choice!

I think any WDW property would be great to stay for the event. They have chartered busses that will take you to the start. If it is a walk to the event, then I think the resort has already been mentioned, I'm not certain which POR location it the one. That is a good walk as I understand from there and a way to loosen up in the a.m. if you need that. Me, I loosen as I get started with thousands of my friends, since it takes a while before things thin out. enough to get any groove going. I love getting there early and enjoying all of the goings on. I consider that part of my event. If it were a rainy miserable start, then I'd rethink what it is I just said.
