Hello all! I am a newbie to the DLP threads and have lots of questions. :rotfl:

I live in the US but may have a chance to go to DLP next May; I have been reading all of your wonderful trip reports and getting very excited!! :cool1:

I do have a question - where would be the best place to stay for my first trip to DLP? I like the proximity of the Disneyland Hotel to the parks, but the Newport Bay resort looks nice, as well.

If it was your first visit, which resort would you choose?

Thank you! :flower3:

Newport bay is currently being refurbed and I can't remember when this is due to finish. I think if you've considered the dlh it's hard to walk past it every day to enter the park! It is right above the gates!!
However price difference is considerable!!

I stayed off-site for my first visit (it was much cheaper!) but have since stayed at the Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge... keeping in mind that I've not stayed at the other DLP hotels here is what I think about them...

Disneyland Hotel: always looks amazing, I would love to stay there someday, unfortunately it's also really expensive! It's so amazingly close to the parks though! So if money was no object this would be my first choice!

Hotel New York: the lobby looks quite shiny. The buffet restaurant is really good (Parkside Diner). Apparently does hot cooked breakfast. Is really close to Disney Village (probably a 2 minute walk to the security checkpoint!)...

Sequoia Lodge: Stayed here last year and LOVED it. It's fairly newly refurbished and the room we were in was really comfortable! The setting is so lovely as well and it just felt so nice. Buffet restaurant is also good. We also loved the breakfast here (which would be similar to breakfast at Newport Bay and breakfast in the parks). If you get a close-ish lodge it's not that much further from the parks than Hotel New York. The swimming pool looks really nice but was it was quite cold while we were there we never felt like swimming (even though part of it is indoors!). Would definitely stay here again if I could!

Hotel Cheyenne: Was just about okay. The outside themeing is fairly amazing, feels a bit like being in Frontierland. However the rooms are extremely dated and I think really could do with refurbishment. Has bunk beds... I personally wouldn't stay here again unless the price was really good... Is a bit of a walk to Disney Village and the parks (about 15-20 minutes?) but there is a shuttle service.

I can't comment on Newport Bay or Santa Fe as I don't know enough about them and haven't even set foot into their lobbies! However the Santa Fe was recently refurbished and I think the Newport Bay may be undergoing refurbishment...

Pink palace :goodvibes if you get a price you'rehappy with. Ilike hotel New York a lot. We stayed twice there and for my next visi I'll be looking at this hotel. It's close to the parks, breakfast is very good and does have hot items. I like the pool too. We stayed in Sequoia Lodge, but our stay wasn't good and I have a feeling it's an over priced hotel. My boys loved Cheyenne and all wild wild west theming. But it does need renovating and rooms seem dark. We stayed in Santa Fe this time. Room was good, renovated. Breakfast busy. But it's a long walk to the parks and he buses are always full. I'd rather choose Santa Fe over Cheyenne. But my pick would be hotel New York. Or Disneyland hotel if the price was right.
Newport Bay is the biggest hotel in resort. And yes, it's being renovated at the moment. People staying in said it's nearly empty and they have dropped the price due to renovation.
