We're staying at Windsor Hills and we'll be making a grocery run on our first day. When we've stayed there before, we went back up Hwy. 27 (I think it was) to a Walmart. I'm looking for someplace more convenient this time tho. I saw on another thread that a lot of people recommend the Super Target or Publix on 192. Can anyone tell me how their prices and selection compare to Walmart? Does the Super Target also have a souvenier section like Walmart has? Thanks.:)

I find the prices at the particular Walmart highly inflated and always insanely busy. We much prefer the Super Target and yes they do have a souvenier section, maybe not as good as Walmart, but they do have none the less. I would avoid the hassle of the Walmart, and do Super Target and pay the same or less in my opinion.

We are staying at WBC and shopping late night (11pm-12am). We were planning on shopping at the Super WalMart on Vineland Rd near Osceola Pkwy. Does anyone know about this Walmart? Is it ok? Is the Super Target open 24 hours?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Walmart is usually the cheapest in our area so I'm glad to hear that the Super Target is not only closer, but cheaper. Is the grocery selection pretty good? The Target stores near me here at home have grocery sections but they don't have nearly as large a selection as our Walmart has. Just a few aisles that look like an afterthought - no bakery or deli at all.

The Target website had a little info on this store and it indicated that it closes at 11PM. Maybe someone who has shopped there can say for sure. But none of the Targets in our area stay open 24 hours so this sounds about right.

In my opinion the WalMart on Vineland is barely okay. Even when it was new it seemed to be messy and crowded. We've been back occasionally but we do try to avoid it. Though it's also a busy store, I prefer the WalMart on Turkey Lake Road - it's newer (a fact) and easier to shop (my opinion). The Vineland store is about 5 miles from WBC while the Turkey Lake store is about 9 miles from your resort. Both of those WalMarts are open 24 hours/day.
Targets in the area are open from 8am through 11pm except for Sundays when they close at 10pm.

You might pay pennies more at Publix, but it's worth it--just a pleasant shopping experience, and much more convenient than the WalMart. I have no gripe with the Super Target, either, across the street.

I agree that I'd rather shop at Publix. A traditional supermarket, the selection is broader than either a WalMart store or a Target store and there are a lot of Publix stores in the area. However, if you're looking to shop between 11pm and midnight then Publix won't be an option for you. Area Publix stores close at 11pm.

For those of you who prefer Publix, which location is best? I've been to two of them in Kissimmee but it's been years. I know there was one on 192 (I think right in front of Orange Lake). The other we reached by hanging a right as we came out of Windsor Hills. It was about 4 miles down the road at a intersection with just a few other businesses. Has anyone tried both and have a preference? And anyone who has been to the one that is (I believe) south of Windsor Hills, are there any new stores or restaurants near it now? It's been almost 4 years since I went to that one so I know a lot may have changed.

I also prefer Publix and we go to both that are on 192 west depending on where we are during the day.

We go out to the 27 so some times we take the back rd and use the Publix ckloser to the 27.

I would not use the one going east on 192 much more traffic.

Though not as convenient to Windsor Hills as those on SR 192 but my clear favorite, and perhaps newest in the area, Publix store is the one at the corner of International Drive and Vineland Ave. It's one of the largest, if not the largest, Publix in the area and has all of the departments that you'd expect of a major supermarket. It's about 9 miles or so from Windsor Hills.

I'm just back from a stay at Windsor Hills. This Target on 192 is a true Super Target with lots of groceries including a bakery and beer & wine. We made 2 trips there during our week and didn't need to go anywhere else for anything we needed. I even bought a decorated birthday cake there (and it was yummy!.) I thought the prices were fine...in line with what I pay at home. Also, if you have a Target card, you get 5% off all purchases.

Does the Super Target have fruits, veggies, and a deli?

Yes for sure on the fruits and veggies. Deli...I think so, but I didn't shop for deli stuff so I can't remember for sure. It had a full bakery, and I think the deli was next to it. Literally that whole half of the store was like a regular grocery store.

Publix at Lake Cay Commons will pull your groceries for you and have them
waiting if you fax them a list a couple of days prior to your arrival.
Happy Limo told me about them. Saved 1/2 hr grocery shopping when
we arrived. Walked in paid for them already in a cart and walked out.
It was awesome!.

A bit off topic, but is Walgreens or CVS a better pharmacy (selection, price) to shop in for drugstore items (medicines, shampoos etc.). Sometimes I hate to go into a huge WM or Target just to pick up a couple of items, and a drug store is usually a much faster shopping experience!

I think it's six of one, half a dozen of another in terms of Walgreens or CVS. I've resolved to spend less time shopping next trip though and Turner drugs will deliver to on property resorts or first aid stands for 7.50 and offsite for $10 or $15 depending on location:

An either/or choice?

We prefer Walgreens but I don't think that there's much difference between the two. I'd go with whichever is closest for you.
