what is the best place to get DH Comfy work boots he goes thru them every 6 months due to his job TIA

WELL, with my husband, I call it "the quest for the perfect work boot". He makes me CRAZY with this, but it is not all his fault. He used to like Herman's Survivors, then some brand sold only at Bob's. That Bob's no longer sells.

Right now, he will only wear workboots made by Dunham, and I have to get it via mail order/online. To make it worse, he wears a size 12W. I buy 2 pairs at a time, and yes, they last about 6 months.

My husband usually gets his at Famous Footwear. They have a pretty good selection of workboots and there's usually either buy 1 get 1 half off sale or a 20% coupon to use towards them.

My husband like Bates steel toe boots with a side zip (he says they're easy to get on and off). I found them at Sears and sears.com.

My husband buys them from redwing. They are a little expensive but they last over a year,

My FIL buys his boots there, they do last a long time! Definitely worth the extra money!! My husband used to get his there, but he is so hard on his workboots he still went through them pretty quick. Working with concrete and concrete coatings really puts a beating on boots.

Thankfully, my husband liked the boots he got at both KMart and Walmart. Over the years, we tried all different kinds (and prices). For the past maybe 5-7 years or so, he was required to have "steel toes" for safety reasons. This, of course, makes the boots much heavier (which he doesn't like). So the Kmart and Walmart brands seemed to be the most comfy for him.

He always preferred the insulated boots (even in summer) because of the soft padding. So we would buy an extra pair each winter, since we could never find the insulated ones in the summer.

My DH used to buy the cheap ones from Wal-Mart. Then he had some Redwings. He also had an issue with gout in his foot. After that he ponied up and bought a pair of Doc Martin steel-toed boots. Granted he sits behind a desk most times, but he does need his steel-toeds on for going out onto the jobsite. He doesn't have issues with his feet anymore, they are comfortable and sooo worth the money.

He wears one pair of shoes to work every day. It's worth it to spend the money on a good pair. They have lasted him a long time as well. He's had them for 2 years.

Thank you all I ordered the Bates steel toe with zipper from Sears $55 and free shipping too got a great deal on these:thumbsup2

What kind of work does your DH do? Mine needs the steel toed safety boots from Red Wing Shoes. They can be resoled if needed. They have saved him from serious injury several times and are well worth the price.

Wow! How'd you get them for $55? The cheapest I see them is $71.99 after I add them to my cart. I'd like to get my husband a new pair.

I ordered the 5 " ones $69.99 and after I put them in my cart at checkout thats what the total came out I did not add any codes or anything it just said promotions/discounts:confused3 I was sure happy:cool1:

My husband won't wear the steel toe. He saw a guy have his toes sheared off by the steel toe when something extremely heavy landed on the man's foot. Yuck, I know. He also does not like the steel toe in the cold. In my case, DH is a union carpenter.

He also does not like the boots with the open hooky things for the laces near the top of the boot. They break he says (he pulls his laces very tight). He would say that about a zipper as well, I would guess. And he will only wear the 8" high ones. So he has many requirements, that is why we call it "the search for the perfect work boot"......
