I go to DLP in just under 3 weeks.
I have always in the past got my Euro's from the Post Office. However, what with the exchange rate at the moment i just wondered if anyone has any suggestions. Should i leave it until the last minute to get them or is the £ likely to fall even further. Where is the best place to get Euro's from, i will be changing up about £400.

Yes I would like know the answer to this too. See my previous thread money queries'!

I was just going to post about this, i was going to go PO but there exchange rate is a bit ekkkk lol

By far the best rates, I have found, have been to use my Nationwide debit or credit card. Nationwide along with only a couple of others, do not charge you for using your cards abroad. The exchange rate used to convert your purchases in euros (or wherever) to pounds is the commercial bank rate rather than the miserly tourist rate.

Obviously, you will need to take some cash, but if you are staying in one of the Disney hotels, charge everything to your room and use your (Nationwide) card at the end of your stay.

Don't forget, however, if you are using a credit card, to pay off the bill in full when it arrives, otherwise you start paying interest, which defeats the object of the exercise.

Im not going to be using my card, im exhanging cash for euros, does that mean ill get a rubbish exchange rate?

I don't have a Nationwide debit or credit card.
I was planning to take my Barclays debit card but was not sure on charges etc so i am a little scared to use it if i am honest. Any advice from anyone who uses a Barclays debit card abroad will be most gratefully received.

I was also planning on taking mainly Euro's, looks like a rubbish exchange rate it is then.

I tend to use Marks and Spencer for foreign currency. They do 0% and have in my experience (prob use them 4 or 5 times a yr) better rates than the other high street bureau de change.

You can either buy instore or order online and have it delivered to you.

This is what we do. We got an excellent rate when using our Nationwide card in Florida.:thumbsup2
We will be doing the same at DLRP in Feb and just take some euros to have on us.:goodvibes

DLRP probably doesnt take visa electron so im stuck buying all my euros before i go.
Is the travel agents exchange rate better than the post offices?

Thomas Cook was offering 1.3 yesterday if you bought a certain amount but i think it was quite a lot. I think thats a bit pants to be honest.:sad2:

The rates i have seen online today seem to be around the 1.27 mark. Not good considering when we went last year we got 1.47.:headache:

I wish i had changed my money up earlier .
Think im just going to have to make the best of what i get given.

I now have a Natiowide Credit card but when I need cash aswell I always use Marks & Spencer as they seem to have a slightly better rate.

The Euro has been falling for a while now, I can't see this stopping anytime soon either, it may level off for a while but with all the Stock markets struggling & the home loan crisis haven't helped it at all.
