best place to buy milk

we always use the toaster for bread we have purchased from the shop...you have to be very patient with it though as it can be a tad slow

The day we arrive we basically raid the food court for cutlery, napkins, jams, butter etc and then go to the store to get the bread, english muffins, packs of cereal, bagels and milk. We do of course, take our own teabags The next morning we are set..I send DH off to toast the bread and put hot water on the teabags..!!

just read something on mousesavers stating that the HESS station's prices for a 1/2 gallon of milk were a bit higher than some resort hotel shops.

might be worth comparing prices first.

re: beer. What about this rumour saying that you're not able to buy more than 2 bottles of beer per adult (21+) at resort food courts ?

no problem with beer at food courts as they sell in six packs as well.In bars at DTD they like to see who the beer is for to check if old enough,had this at Citywalk as well.In water parks at the food outlet it is also 2 beers per valid id(as long as you look old enough ) but find it flat in the waterparks

Just thought I would reply.......I am very sorry if I have upset you and agree that nobody else knows anybody else's financial or family situation unless the info is shared. I didn't mean to cause offence and I suppose the saying is true....if you look after the pennies, the pounds (dollars) will look after themselves. I was of the thinking that you know when there is a great offer on petrol but you have to drive 10 miles to the station thereby annulling the saving made and time taken to go and get it......that sort of thing. It is a great idea though to save time and money and dining points by self catering where you can.

I didn't want to travel for miles to get milk in fact that was what my question was all about as we've always bought our tea milk from Publix and I was trying to save the trip out there.

Thankfully the ever dependable UK DISers have come to the rescue and now I know that the Boardwalk store is probably the way to go so thank you to all those who gave advice and yes Cath you're forgiven

We've used garden grocer a couple of times which is great if you want a few things, but if all you want is milk then probably not worth it.

Its on the Boardwalk itself..on the corner near the swimming pool or sort of opposite where you get off the ferry..

Thank you I know the place it looks like several shops from the front but is actually all one shop with food and drink at one end and clothes etc at the other

are you staying at the boardwalk? as there is a hess right outside within walking distance, a lot closer that DTD just past the parking lot. not for milk but beers i always push the one at DTD as thats the easyest one to get to with disney transport for non drivers,but for folks staying at the epcort resorts this one much closer

its a shorter walk to that one from Y+BC than if your at SSR to the at DTD, this one is bigger, as its close to the car hire at the Swan and dolphin so a bigger selection of goods

reason is its a DVC resort and all the DVC resorts have grocery shops located in them.

Beach Club Market place has large milk too - save carrying it around the lake It also has some groceries can't remember what exactly though.

that's a complete rip off, even by Disney standards ...
milk prices went up sharply for the last couple of years, but in 2011 a gallon was more like $3.79 to $3.99 with rare exceptions over $4 for expensive stores.

It's definitely worth checking the prices at several places before buying.

we bought disposable plastic bowls at publix as well as a plastic cutlery set (forks, knives and spoons) at super target.

Last time we bought 4 bowls from poundland and took those I also borrowed some plastic spoons from the works canteen!

Given that I started this thread your comment did indeed make me smile I guess it shows that there are an awful lots of us that do like to make those hard earnt pounds/dollars go a far as possible especially as we are spending a fortune on getting there and staying there.

Also I guess many, like us, would much prefer to spend their money on better meals than breakfast. Certainly for us breakfast is just a means to an end i.e. something to get you going so you can hit the parks and have fun

Also.......sometimes the meal options aren't always that healthy so its nice to be in control of the choices. We found that after a few days of breakfasts, lunches and dinners out we started to crave more fruit, salads and vegies......yes its true.......so, we started eating in for breakfast more and often we would take a packed lunch with us........I do love all the choices though in the states as we live in France and sometimes our options for eating out are limited....if it isn't french then don't bother .....you know how the French are!! And, as has been said it free's up more money to spend on other things like.......clothes.....another thing the French don't do too well at!!
