I'm a DVC member and usually an annual passholder, so I find good luck directly at the WDW website. I have friends that use Dreams Unlimited and swear by it!
Depends on how comfortable you are with the cancellation policies.
Also consider booking directly with a Disney travel agent or Disney you can easily change your booking to reflect any new promos that are released.
You can't do that with tour operators and there are fees for cancellation with TO's as well.
Unless you are very familiar with Disney I would suggest a Travel Agent that specializes in Disney. I would be happy to recommend an agent we have used in the past if you would like, but will hold off for now and just leave this as a very general reply.
I've used TA in past(AAA), but now I research it online and than call the resveration #. I ask about pins on my account. So far this is the cheapest way I've found to book initially- My last trip Disney Visa released its kids play and eat free deal a couple weeks before my trip and I was able to apply the promo to my resservations!(The pin I had was 30% of a value resort)
My understanding is that you are not going to get a better deal booking with a TA unless you book a package with AAA and get the AAA rate which is never the best deal any how.
The promotions Disney puts out are available to everyone and a individual TA is not going to be able to undercut Disney.
The only advantage to booking with a TA is so you don't have to watch for deals yourself. But with being on the Disboards and signing up for alerts really it's a no brainer. Just book directly with Disney.
I got a quote from AAA for our first trip (15 times ago) and it was almost $800 more than Disney Travel when I called directly. I have been doing that since. You can bring it up online so you know when you call what you want.
We have booked out own, used AAA, but this time we are using MEI?Mousefan travel.
Mousefan will apply any pin codes that open to the general public even if you have already made a reservation. They will also get up early and make your ADR's for you. This agency specializes in Disney vacations and are required to keep up with what is going on with Disney.
The only downside is that in order to make changes, you have to have the TA make it.
Mousefan does not charge any booking fee or any change fees, unless you make changes after the final payment. And this fee is the fee Disney charges.
We use Daniel at dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. He's very helpful, quick to reply, and does a great job getting the ADRs I want. If you get a pin code, he can add it later for you too.
