After reading these boards, I'm cancelling our Sci-Fi lunch ADRS. What's the best place to have lunch at Disney Studios?:confused3

We like 50s Prime Time.

Mama Melrose is also good if you want a longer meal, and lots of people like HBD, though I think it's pretty expensive for lunch.

CS there isn't the best.

we ate cs, at woodys pizza planet. boy the pizza was better than i expected, and quite large, plus a side salad, which was nice also. we will definetaly go back. we ate outside also , and man took our picture for us. we also ate at prime time also for supper, and it was good.

The best place is the Sci-Fi for lunch. The atmosphere is great, even if the food isn't. In fact, all the restaurants at the Studios are pretty bad.

Another vote for Sci Fi! Lunch is MUCH better than dinner. The food is pretty mediocre everywhere in DHS, but the Sci Fi atmosphere is terrific!

One of our "must do's" is lunch at Prime Time Cafe. We've always had a good time there and the food is good.:flower3:

My vote would be Sci-Fi or Brown Derby but I would rather do BD for dinner;)

We have done SciFi and Prime Time for lunch- our pick is Prime Time, good food, fun atmosphere, good service- we really enjoy this one.
Sci Fi was fun too and the food OK, but the service was terrible and we were so rushed just ruined it for us.
Pizza Planet was a good choice for CS, we split a pizza/salad combo and had plenty.

Id keep Sci-Fi for lunch. Its an amazing experience and if you stick to the basics (we love the burgers) the food is fine. I like Mama Melrose, but for dinner. I dont care for Prime Time

We usually do Sci-Fi, but have done 50's Prime Time and the Brown Derby. By far I love the Sci-Fi. It's a blast mainly because of the old sci-fi B-Movie trailers they show. I've actually seen all of those movies.

We love Sci-fi for lunch! We have burgers, onion rings and shakes and they are delicious. The kids love the atmosphere and we find it to be relaxing and fun to sit in the cars and laugh at the movie clips.

50's Primetime is so dependent on your server. Ours was a dud, the waiter at the next table was a riot. I so wanted the other family to adopt me. For lunch.
Sci-Fi is great no matter who your server is. Just let them know at check-in that you would like to wait for a 'car'. I would really keep your ressies.
My boys like the Commissary for lunch. They sell noodle bowls which seems to be big among 10 and 12 year old boys. Something about Naruto?
Have fun deciding...:hippie:

What are the ages of your party? all adults or mix of adults & children?

For a mix go with Prime Time (yes, it is sooo dependent on server, like WCC)

For adults we love HBD & go at lunch. If you are on the DDP it is 2 credits, though, if that is a consideration. If they are on, ask for Ashley from Cocoa Beach or Ryan from Cambridge, MA. The food is excellent and if the restaurant was at a resort you can bet there would be an additional 30% mark up.
The menu w/prices is posted just outside the entrance, so decide for yourself if it is too pricey.

I like the Commissary, too, for an enjoyable CS. Lots of air conditioned seating & love the place's style.

Have a great trip! :cheer2:

Thanks so much for all the replies. Confused now.:confused3

My kids are 16, 13, 10 and 8. I was going to give up the ressie b/c of reviews I read on the boards, and my experience at the restaurant, which is decent atmosphere, not great food. I thought that now the kids might be "over" the novelty of the cars we could go somewhere for a better meal, but now I'm not sure. We are on dxddp and probably have enough credits to use 2 at H if you think that's the better choice.

I would have to vote for HBD as the best at DHS. I actually like Sci-Fi, but we havent ate there in awhile.

If you're on the DxDDP then I'd go for Sci-fi for lunch. The burger's, fries, onion rings and shakes are great, although, against my advice my BIL ordered some pasta dish that was surprisingly good.

We don't like Prime Time, we'd rather relax at lunch after a long morning touring and my DD's like to tune out and watch the clips. Really, this is one of the most unique dining experiences in WDW. There isn't another place like it.

To be honest, I like both Sci Fi and the Brown Derby. They are very different. Since you have eaten at Sci Fi before, you might want to try the Brown Derby. But I'm not sure if the 8 yo would like it. Maybe let them look at the menu and decide that way.

I absolutley love BD for lunch but it is not worth 2TS. We definitely like Sci-Fi and Prime Time, so I guess I'm no help! Have you asked the kids whether they want to go back to Sci Fi or try something different?

As someone pointed out, if you're in the right mood and get a good server Prime Time is an absolute blast... and the food's pretty decent, too!
