Ok, i have heard mixed reviews about le cellier and about the coral reef.

I am looking for two seperate dining occasions here, but am wondering if someplace other than the place you would expect has the best of each type of food to offer.

We haven't explored the resorts and Downtown much, so perhaps we are missing a darn good meal or two there and should check them out.

We've had EXCELLENT steak at Jiko and Shulas. I prefer Jiko, although they don't have a large selection of cuts. If you want that then Shula's would be your place. But the filet on mac and cheese with a red wine reduction at Jiko is the best meal on property IMHO.

For seafood we've always had GREAT food and service at Fulton's, although it think it's a take your chances place based on other posters experiences. The Cape May Cafe consitantly gets high ratings. It's not gourmet by any means, but if you're a seafood lover the value is very high for the dollar.

For seafood you can't beat Fulton's - best seafood we have ever had. It is a little pricy but worth it IMHO.

For steaks our only good experience has been Le Cellier although from what I hear Shulas and the Yatchsman is far superior.

Best seafood, best steak, The Flying Fish has them both.

You took the words right out of my mouth! :)

If you are looking for them both on the same night...you have to go to Flying Fish...hands down the winner!

The best steaks are at Shula's. It's pricey but if done smartly is not that bad. Shula's is a la carte but the portions are HUGE and the key is to share.

Flying Fish is a very good restaurant, but the BEST....is clearly California Grill (at the Contemporary). Both the preparation and presentation of each meal is impeccable. I haven't eaten anything there which was less than excellent.

As a bonus, you get the best view in all of Disney. Huge picture windows overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon and MK.

As for fish only, I would give the nod to Fultons, because the atmosphere of eating on the "Steam Boat" adds to the experience and the food is very good. Portobello Yacht Club (next to Fultons) is also excellent and often easier to get into (it seems to be less well known).

enjoy!

I won't give my standard Yachtsman (YSH) vs. Shula's review. If you're intersted ask & I'll go into the detail. For now I'll just say that I believe the best steaks are at YSH & for my money the atmosphere and service are hands down better. For seafood - Flying Fish is very good. California Grill usually has a seafood offering & I agree that the food ther is exceptional - plus you can't beat the view.

Steaks: Yachtsman's Steakhouse, Flying Fish or Shulas. IMO, they ALL have equally good steaks. My personal favorite is the seared NY strip steak at Flying Fish because they char it to perfection Pittsburgh style and the sauce served with it is excellent--very similiar to bernaise sauce.
Seafood--Flying Fish or Fultons.

Yachtman's Steakhouse is the best place for steak. I've eaten seafood at Citricos (paid for by WDW!). The lobster was FABULOUS. I've heard that Fulton's is good but I've never been there. Flying Fish is also good.

Best place for seafood is Fultons. I have always had a really good steak at Le Cellier but after all of the positive report on YSH and Shula's I am trying them both when we are there in October as well as Le Cellier and Fultons.

OH, thank you all so much for so many responces. We really want to treat ourselves with good meals on this trip. DS has grown tired of the kiddie meal thing and DH and i find a GOOD meal every few days really adds to our vacation.

I will make a list of the options above and give some (if not all) of them a try. (i better bring shorts with elastic wastebands!!!!)

thanks again - lori

My vote is for the Flying Fish. While seafood is its speciality, they have the best steak I have ever had. All of their food is outstanding and the atmosphere is fun and casual. Lots of people bring their kids but everyone always seems to be very well-behaved.
