Best place for a romantic dinner?

We're going in May with the in-laws so we'll be able to have a "date date". Our idea of a night out is having fun with each other. So I think we'll be going to Big River Grille and Brew works at the Boardwalk. Then we'll just hang out over there and think we're in Atlantic City. We've been there a couple of times for our anniversay so it's romantic to us.

Same here. Each year we leave the kids at one of the Kids Clubs and DH and I go to Yachtman's Steakhouse. We have a great meal and then we stroll over to the Boardwalk and hit Jellybeans. We have a great time together. (and I think the kids enjoy our date night at WDW as much as we do) We have to pull them out of the Clubs. :rotfl2:

I always have three restaraunts in mind for romantic dining at Disney:

1. V&A's
2. BlueZoo
3. Cali Grill

We had a very romantic anniversary dinner at Narcossees. The meal began with personalized "Happy Anniversary" Menus. We were seated by the window and watched the Wishes fireworks display over the lagoon. At the conclusion of our meal (so delicious...we had Surf & Turf) our waitress surprised us with the most beautiful anniversary cake (I wish I had a picture!) with gorgeous white chocolate butterflies and flowers on top and champagne. It was so memorable.

Victoria and Albert's!!!

USA Today recently posted a list of all 42 AAA Five-Daimond Rated Restaurants in the US. V&A is one of only 3 in all of Florida.

V&A is tops for romantic dining!!!! We've been to both the dining and the chef's table, and the dining room is better for a romantic and quiet atmosphere. Chef's table is in the kitchen, which is amazing to watch...it's nothing like Hell's Kitchen(aka, no yelling LOL)...the kitchen is a well oiled machine and everyone is doing their parts to put together the meal.

Another place that DH and I have dined romantically at is the Bistro de Paris - the second floor restaurant in Epcot - France. Our two person table was right at the window. We had a fabulous meal while gazing out the window (and into each others eyes - it was our honeymoon!)

I was going to make these exact suggestions. :) Have been to Bistro de Paris, left DS w/ a sitter & had a lovely parents night out. Never been to V&A (yet!) -- but will eventually. Both restaraunts are less child friendly, no kids menus & V&A has a min. age limit of 10 or 12 -- so lend themselves to quieter adults only dinners.

My vote is for Cali Grill. Watching the fireworks from there is just awesome and we've had exceptional food and great service. Another idea would be to eat at the Poly or GF and then walk along the beach at the Poly and watch the fireworks from there. That's one of our favorite things to do in the World.

I'm going to toss out a caveat for Bistro ... they are now supposedly offering parents the ability to order food for their children off the Chefs de France dinner menu.

My hubby and I dined there in October and chose it in part because it's usually very quiet and peaceful ... not so this night. There were several families there with small (and I mean age 5 and under) children who were not pleased to be there. Other people we know had similar experiences at Bistro in October.

If you want a meal that is now guaranteed to be "adult" your only option is V&A. Every other restaurant is apparently going to be a crapshoot. Heck, we were at Bluezoo one night eating in the bar and there were people in there with their kids. In the bar. :confused3

Heads up, OP ... Bistro does not accept the dining plan, either. They have wonderful food and service, though, so it is a nice and less expensive alternative to V&A. :thumbsup2

Crud. I'm disappointed to hear this. I liked having a child free dinner option (besides V&A.) Not a child-hater by any means, check my siggy, mom of 3! But if I've gone to the trouble to secure childcare for my own kids, the last thing I want to hear is someone else's. kwim? I have the same complaint about folks that bring innapropriately young kids (and babies!) to movies, and then the babies are tired or frightened & scream through the movie.....

I see that Picasso is still on the list too so if the OP is expecting the caliber of Picasso, V&A is the only choice.

Last October I booked a private dining at the Grand Floridian. It was the best way to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary! Couldn't get more private/romantic/quiet than this..we had our own balcony overlooking the lake/GF pool and had a view of the top of the castle. We gave them our likes and dislikes as far as food goes and the chef created a special menu for myself and my husband. We had our own butler, and a special dessert was served while the Wishes fireworks were going off. We had a perfect view. As an added bonus, we were able to see the Electric Water parade and the fireworks from Illuminations. The balcony is on a concierge floor I believe, where you need a key or something to get to that floor, so you have hardly any pedestrian traffic or other guests bothering you. If the weather does not cooperate, the butler told us they have a room one floor up and they seat you in front of the window so you get the same view, just indoors. Water is included and we ordered a bottle of wine. The food was amazing! I think it would cost about as much, if not a little less than V&A's. I called 407-824-2578. I left a message and they got back to me and asked for my e-mail address and sent me all the particulars. I believe I spoke to a woman named Linda. Very helpful.

Whatever you decide, have a GREAT time!

Yes V&A is 5star and very romantic
But for us, it's too formal. Not our style.

We've tried Cal Grill for Romantic but is very noisey not really romantic at all. (at least not until well after fireworks are over)

So for us Jiko is the top choice. Great food. Great service.
The best, knowledgable service we've had at any disney resturant.
And we like to sample wines even though we're not hugely expereinced or knowledgable about them. And twice we've gone and tried their recommendations, and have had the 2 best bottles of wine's we've ever tried.
Plus their flat breads are so good they're addicting.
And we found it quiet and to be romantic for a couples dinner.

So if you like to have something different, sample a nice wine with very good food, Jiko is the place to go.

We had the same experience as Brenda at Bistro de Paris -- lots of kids the night we dined there recently.

We've often seen lots of tired noisy kids at Jiko, too. We've started going to Jiko late, around 10 pm, and that helps. But, we once watched a family of 6 (with four young children) troop in around 10:15 pm, so dining late is no guarantee of quiet. AKL is so far from everything else that the dining options are only Boma, Jiko and the cafeteria. So, plenty of families end up at Jiko by default.

We also suffered once at Jiko from an obnoxious two-year-old who cried and fussed, and cried and fussed, and cried and fussed and whose parents never saw fit to take him out -- through grandma stood up with him and jiggled him a few times -- which only made him cry louder.

Thanks for all the info! I didn't know there were so many choices.

I mentioned Picaso, because that's the fanciest we've ever eaten. (Also the most expensive. I will say the food was outstanding.) It's not important that we eat 5 diamond, or that it's the best there is. We obviously want to eat good food. And yes, we would like it to be cozy, and semi quiet.

I tried to check into the private dining last time we were in the world, but no one ever got back with me. :confused3 I think I heard once that someone was able to book private dining on the monorail. Wouldn't that be cool? I like the idea of the private dining. I may check into that again. I had also heard you could do it on the beach. shortchange1026 do you know if that was an option?

Thanks again for all the input. I really hope this will work out for us. :thumbsup2
