Best Photo Printer?

Ok, I am in the market for a new printer, I think. . (my old one might or might not be savagable!) I wanted to know what you all felt the best printer is for printing photos and scrapbook-bound titles, text, etc. I'm taking more digital pictures, so I need something that is good at printing photos. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 960. I think it prints great photos. I've had people tell me they couldn't tell that I'd printed them - they thought they were "real" photos.

I have an epson stylus photo 890. The prints are really nice!

Only thing to remember (and I don't know RRBB has the same problem) I can only use epson photo paper. If I try to use anything else my prints smear.


Epson has a large line of photo quality printers

I have an HP photosmart 1215 that is a few years old, but it prints great photos, I am very happy with it, also any other color printing comes out real well too.

I have 2 photos printers
First I got the HP Photosmart (when I got my HP photosmat digital camera) and I don't love it - I tried 50 different papers, adjusted settings, but never got the look of a real photo. Colors were never 'true' - Maybe they have improved it since then.

When I got my new computer last month I needed a new scanner so we opted for the Lexmark X6170 4-in-1 and I LOVE the photos - I accidentally photocopied a picture - on REGULAR- paper and it came out AWESOME! Perfect colors, shading, everything!

I do have some Epson photo paper, but it's not acid-free. (I actually tested several of Epson's photo papers and NONE of them are acid-free.) For the photos I print to go into my albums I use the CM photo paper and I've never had any problem with it.

I would also recommend the Epson printers. They do have quite a few acid free papers but none of the glossy paper is. Neither are traditional prints.

They make a great scrapbooking paper in 12x12 and letter size. When printing on that paper you will get 200 plus years of archival life.

I have an HP photosmart 230 printer (mostly because DH works for HP and it was free!), but I do love the pictures. And DH is constantly bringing home pictures from competitors printers and I think they are just as good. I can't tell the difference between my prints and real photos. I love the compact size anc the color screen. I am pretty computer/printer dumb and it is so easy for me to use.

Actually they just came out with new matte paper and it looks awesome.

While we're on this subject, maybe someone can help me out. I have a digital camera and an HP photosmart 7350 copier. Whenever I try to print my own pictures they come out awful. The clarity is just not there, unless however, I am printing out 8x10 or larger. Am I doing something wrong or is it the printer?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have the HP 7550 and it prints great! Kodak also makes Acid Free.

Pammy jo - mine prints clear at all sizes....perhaps if you go to the HP website and see if there have been hardware upgrades that you can download...... I know my HP camera has several I need to download to it when I have a chance.

As much as I love the clarity of my HP printed pictures...I have recently used SNAPFISH.com and love it. The photos get printed on regular photo paper, etc. I am just very concerned about the longevity of the home printed photos. But they are great for a quick photo or a gift album.

Depending on the printer the life of a print can exceed traditional prints. There is a great web site with information.

I have many traditional prints that faded. But I used my Epson Perfection 1670 scanner and restored them all. I love my digital prints. I have had many people rave over the quality that I get with my Epson printer.
