Against my better judgement, my family of 5 will be at WDW beginning on July 3rd, 2018 for 6 nights. We plan on spending 5 days in the parks, with the first being July 4th. Yikes!

I am seeking your opinions on what the best park (least crowded) will be for the 4th of July.

If it matters, we will be staying at PORS and will have a car.

Thanks!

For high crowd days, I like epcot because the pathways at the world showcase are big.

Least is probably AK because they don’t have fireworks.

Personally, for the full fireworks experience, I’d try to watch the MK fireworks on the 3rd (ie from TTC) they have the same show on the 3rd and 4th.
And then Epcot on the 4th (if you have hoppers, the do AK in the morning and hop to Epcot in the evening)

We avoid all parks on the 4th (if we are there at that time) and rent a pool cabana instead. However, other family choose Epcot on the 4th and see the MK fireworks on the 3rd.

We did MK on the 3rd since they do their special fireworks on that day too and then Epcot on the 4th. Epcot has a great holiday tag on to the end of Illuminations on the 4th. We had a great time and I would do it like that again...especially after reading what the crowds were like at MK on the 4th.

How crowded did Epcot seem to you on the 4th?

Not too bad at all, IMO. I think maybe I was preparing myself for the absolute worst and it all being pretty unmangable with crowds but it wasn't like that at all. We rope dropped, did Future World in the morning and stuck around WS the rest of the day. Just seemed like any other regular crowded summer day...not a holiday.

Yes, if you want fireworks Epcot or DHS is the better option on the 4th. We found DHS to be relatively manageable and Epcot is so big that it is also not terrible but you will have to find a spot a couple of hours early. AK is less crowded overall. Fireworks in the MK on the 3rd is a great suggestion but that's no bargain either. it gets very crowded. A dessert party if you can snag it when the dates open would be your best option for that.

We did the HDDR on the forth a couple of years ago. Very patriotic feeling! Then watched fireworks from BLT. We went fishing in the morning. It was such a great day with no stress.

We did this last year, also against my better judgment, and had so much fun we almost did it again this year! We found it wasn't nearly as crowded as we thought it would be. But we were out of the parks by about 3:00 on the 4th.

I'd try to go watch the MK fireworks from the Poly or GF on the third since you arrive that day and are not planning a park.
