best parade spots!

?? for all you vetran DIS'ers...where is the best place in each park to grab a parade spot?? any park any parade...and here are some catagories of BEST!

1. best last minute spot?

2. the best late evening spot to exit park quickly and beat the mad mad rush??

3. best shaded spot?

4. best character interaction spot?


ps incase anyone hasnt noticed my countdown is getting there pretty quick??

At MK what I like to do is find out from a Cast Member where the parade will begin. It will either start at Frontierland and end by City Hall at the entrance to MK or vice versa. If you are there where it starts you are finished about 15 minutes before the people at the end of the parade. The lines will then be shorter at most of the rides because most of the people are still watching the parade. Some people start lining Main Street USA up to 2 hours before the parade. I have never done this and still had good viewing of the parade. We usually get an ice cream cone and find a spot about 15-20 minutes before it starts.

I have never sat and watched the parade at MGM or AK so I don't know about those.

At Epcot, its really shady around Norway. It would be a great place to watch the parade.

We like to do EE, leave the parks for a swim, nap and early dinner then come back for the evening parade(depends on the time of year). When the parade starts on Main Street grab a spot right at the beginning. I mean right where the doors open to let the floats out. It is useally not crowded. At that point the parade is over for you first and a quick escape would be easy. We like to become part of the parade by filing in right behind the CM's and the rope indicating the end. Up main street we go! The parde is now a little longer for us to enjoy and when we get to the hub and a roped off walkway to escape we vere off and hit the rides while the people are still getting up and wiping the dirt from their butts(can I say that here?). It's a great way to get back into the park area without the crowds going all different ways.

Our favorite spot for Spectro Magic is on the curb across from the Exhibition Hall. We sit in front of the benches on the curb. The benches prevent a large crowd of people from sitting behind you. This spot is close to the beginning of the parade route and to the park exit. You can make a fast getaway or just stroll down Main Steet ( close to Casey's) for a good view of fireworks and still exit quickly when they are over ( we have a little one to get to bed). We have also found that the parade tends to slow a bit at this spot which makes it great for interaction with parade characters. On the three accoassions that we have been in this spot, nearly every character came over to our daughter adding even more magic to her evening. We do generally arrive an hour or so before the parade. But this spot has much to entertain us while we wait. DH and I trade off taking DD to see characters (Meet&Greets are directly behind our seats), or watch Mickey cartoons in the Exhibition Hall, or go into the candy shop for treats, or just stroll Main Steet and soak in the atmosphere.
