Best One Night hotel stay

Where to stay for one night?

  • Pop - cheap place to sleep, you'll be too tired to do anything else.

  • Swan- a little more $ than Pop, but boardwalk, dining is better.

  • Animal Kingdom Lodge - even more $$, but Savanna view.

  • Contemporary- spend the night at MK, not too much travel.

  • Offsite - cheapest choice - you've had enough fun.

We are going to WDW for a week this July, staying at the WL Villas. We are then driving to Key West for my cousin's birthday. We are coming back from Key West and staying one night before flying home from Orlando the next day. The issue is where to stay? We are trying to factor cost, fatigue, dining option that night, and what to do for the half day after having two weeks of vacation glory.

I'd choose the Swan. Great Hotel. Great Location. Usually great prices. You can't go wrong with that.

Do you plan on doing the parks at all?

If it were me and I wasn't planning on doing the parks at all, I think I would go with one of the DTD hotels. That way you can walk over to Downtown Disney for that half day of time and they are way cheaper than Contemporary or Swan. If you are going to Epcot or MGM, I'd stay at the Swan, but if not I don't think it's worth the money. The Hilton and Wyndham at DTD are nice and you can usually get a good rate. Personally I wouldn't spend a ton of money on a place just to sleep, I wouldn't go cheapest either though. Maybe off property but not cheapest? :confused3

Best one night stay we ever had upon driving into WDW early last summer prior to our WDW vac. was Gaylord Palms.:thumbsup2 We booked it ahead of time, on-line using the DIS code and got the atrium view upgrade room for $99. To say that we were blown away when we walked into the hotel is putting it mildly but then when we actually stepped into our room....OH..My..Gosh!!:cool1: My DS and I are very simple folks so we were totally blown away. In fact, we would have loved to have spent our entire WDW vac. right from that room.

We have stayed at The DTD Hilton and The Hotel Royal Plaza which are both nice hotels but we are "on site" people.....until we stayed at Gaylord Palms. They had us at "Hello".:lovestruc
