I've looked on this forum and started to read all those "best offsite" and "worst offsite" hotels but it didn't help me because most of them i'm sure are for WDW parks and not Universal so I would love to know if anyone could help me find a "decent" priced hotel that is really close to Universal, I'm thinking of planning a trip there the first week of June.

Thanks so much!
Jai

Will you have a rental car? If so, anything in Lake Buena Vista will be a relatively easy drive to Universal. We really like Sheraton Safari, and have been lucky enough to get it for $59 each night through www.travelzoo.com. We got that right in 2005 & 2006 and used it to add 2 days to our stay. We have stayed in 2 bdrm condos through skyauction as well, 2 times in Lake Buena Vista and once in Kissimmee. Lake Buena Vista has easy access to the I-4, and from there it's just a few exits until Universal. We always go to US/IOA for at least 3 days during our trips and never find the drive long or inconvenient.

The condo rentals have been $266 or less for the full week, including all fees.

Hope that helps, have a great trip!

thanks so much for reponsing! I am driving so I'll have my car... i am going to look into everything you told me. I'm not looking for anything fancy.. maybe a frig but not a big deal... not looking for a kitchen or anything but i noticed the price really doesn't change that much with the off site hotels when it comes to kitchens and stuff.

anyways thanks so much!

I have stayed at the comfort suites on sand lake road. this was a couple years back after the bad hurricane season. It was ok. Clean enough. It is pretty close to universal. The only problem I had was we were facing the pool and they had the music on real loud. I finally asked for another room and they gave me one facing the parking lot and it was a lot quieter. It is right of i-4.

just to update everyone... i already booked with DoubleTree... i got a good deal for the room i booked and this way i get to sleep in a little bit more since the parks are right across the street and it wont take no time to get there!

Thanks Everyone!

what was your rate at the double tree jai?

i went online and booked from their site a one KING bed room with US window view for 96 a night... that was almost 30 dollars cheaper then anywhere else because I did the PAY now and not later which is good because my room is paid for now and dont have to worry about that later.. but it is not refundable, thats the downside.
