Best of RCI?

As your friends can tell you, exchanges aren't guaranteed. The 2 numbers to keep in mind are 270 points for a 2 BR and 160 DVC points for a 1 BR for a week during high season. Most of the locations and times you'll want to go are high season. You'd be BETTER and CHEAPER buying less DVC points and looking at something else for II or RCI for exchanging if you're thinking of doing this periodically. If you won't go too often, you'd be better just buying less DVC points and paying cash for the non DVC options. Remember you can also rent privately often less than the maint fees for many locations. Most exchange options are very expensive and non are guaranteed to be available or even continue as an option going forward.
When we were getting Westins, high end Marriotts, Harborside, etc with II then the trade value for that many points was worthwhile.

BUT that's no longer the case with RCI.. There are VERY, VERY few, if any, that would merit that point layout. Even the Manhattan Club or the Hiltons in HI are not worth that much money.

Even for the paltry $10 a point you'll get on the Dis Rent Trade Forum a two bedroom would equate to $2700. I can easily rent any property on RCI's rosters for half of that fee. The best thing to do, if you are dying to get to any of the RCI resorts I listed above, is to rent your points out on the Dis and then go to sites like Redweek and shop for your vacation. You will end up with enough money to pay for two weeks in a top flight resort.
