I'm looking for suggestions for a non-park table service meal. Not really interested in DTD either. We had planned on going to 'Ohana for dinner, but I'm worried about all the recent unfavorable reviews. :sad2:

It will be myself, DH, and 2 girls (5 and 1).

Thanks!

I really enjoy Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love the variety of foods on the buffet. The soups are one of my favorites. They serve a carrot ginger soup that is just perfect to me! After dinner we wander aroudn the resort a bit and view the animals from several locations. The water fowl over near the pool were particularly entertaining last time!

Another good place is Kona Cafe in the Polynesian. Good food, good service and a nice location to walk the beach after dinner and see Wishes from a distance.

We used to love Spoodles but it has closed and been replaced by a new place. The menu and theme appear to be Mediterranean and Greek. It looks good but we have not been able to try it yet.

Another favorite of ours is Raglan Road but we love the loud music, dancing, and good beer and food.

I second Boma..it is buffet, but the best available, if you want one step up, Jiko is right there too. We just went to Sanaa in July and loved it as well (Kidani Village) - it's really Indian food, but with an African twist.
Two restaurants you can get to by monorail would be Citrico's and California Grill - get your ressies early! They are both outstanding.

Our family loves California Grill. Its an absolute must do on every trip that we go on. I see that you also have 2 little ones. Chef Mickey's is another really good choice if your travelling with weeones. My kids always insist that we go there. The character interaction is really good, and make sure you try the mashed potatoes if you go....totally yummy!!!!!

We love Narcoossee's. It was my son first signature meal at Disney (he just turned 2 when we took him). He liked his meal there and enjoyed watching the boat and monorail while we had dinner and watch the fireworks. another place is Chef Mickey b/c the little ones loves character meals.

DH and I love Kona. With the age of your children I would think Chef Mickey would be a big hit. The food isn't great and it isn't bad but the character interaction when we were there was superb. I also liked Whispering Canyon but DH thought it was just okay.

Please elaborate on what you mean by "best?" Are you looking for fine dining or great entertainment for the kids?

Yeah, I should have been more specific. We don't have 2 TS credits to use, so all signature restaurants are out. We will be at MK that day, so something close/easy to get to would be ideal. I'd really like a nice combination of good food (probably not a buffet) and something entertaining for the kids, but it doesn't have to be character meal.

If the food at 'Ohana was great, it would fit the bill, but I just don't know...

Thanks!

We have always enjoyed the food at 'Ohana, especially the appetizers and dessert, but honestly, they bring out so much food that everyone is bound to find something they really like. If something comes out cooked not to your liking (like the turkey is dry or the beef is too rare, for example) you can ask your server to bring more. I think you are better off eating early, so you don't have to wait to long for a table and the meat hasn't had a chance to get dry.

We've enjoyed great lunches at Kona, and I've also heard great things about The Wave.

We didn't enjoy WCC, must have been an "off" night, but it is a favorite of many and very convenient by bus or boat to MK.

I think your kids would best enjoy 'Ohana or WCC out of the TS sit-down restaurants outside of, but near, MK.

I love Ohanas....I eat there every trip and will be having dinner there again on 9/1...I can't wait.

In addition to Boma I would suggest Kona or Grand Floridian Cafe. We've never beento Ohana, but many people seem to enjoy it.

Boma is the best but there are many places. In fact, other than maybe WS, the resorts offer the best places to have TS

'ohana, kona cafe, whisperin canyon, boma, jiko, citricos, etc etc
