Best non-campground stops...

Carolina Cross Roads right off 95 in North Carolina offers very cheap sites for after 6:00 and out before 8:00. Not a bad deal, nice restrooms and easy pull through sites.

Nothing like having a decision made for you! :crazy2: But honestly, sometimes it takes the stress away.

We haven't stayed at the Fredericksburg KOA, but we've stayed twice at Jacksonville North and we really like it for the final night before WDW. The only thing I don't like about it is that since it is so close to the border my DH never wants to stop at the FL welcome center for the free juice since we've just gotten on the road!

Safe travels!

The Frederickburg KOA is a very nice campground but quite expensive and be aware that it's a ways off of I95 on a narrow 2 lane road which can be a bit harrowing. If you can keep going until Carolina Crossroads, you'll be right off the road at 1/2 (or less) the price. Crossroads is at Exit 171 in NC - 10 miles across the state line. Agree about Jacksonville North, Pecan Park is also a good overnight park with pizza or Chinese food delivery.

I agree on Carolina Crossroads! Very nice spot to stop, we did it on a non-Disney Florida trip last year. I will look at Pecan Park, good to have options!

Thanks for the input.... Went on to google maps and "drove" down the route from where you turn on to that two lane road so that I know what it is like....due to time of day leaving, that really is max...can't push on to Crossroads, but glad I got a heads up that made me view the road. About 6-7 miles after exiting 95...about 2 1/2 of them on that little 2 laner...

Glad you checked it out ! It's the same road over which they took Stonewall Jackson in an ambulance after he was shot ( by his own troops ) at Chancellorsville. We've always figured the road had something to do with his eventual death ....lol. The KOA is a nice stop with some long pull throughs and beautifully shaded sites. Enjoy ....

I love Civil War history....didn't realize that was the road he was taken out on....very cool!
