Best Nighttime shows and if I need tickets?

Just wondering which nighttime shows I NEED to see, and if I need tickets and where to get those.

I'm from southern California so I've seen Fantasmic a lot here, is it the same at Disney World?

You don't need tickets for the nighttime spectacular outside of your park tickets. I suggest watching Illuminations at Epcot. I personally think there's something really magical about watching Wishes! at Magic Kingdom, too.

Fantasmic! at WDW isn't going to be entirely new for you, but it does have some differences. There's a lot of Pocahontas stuff in it, and it doesn't have Kaa. Kaa is replaced by the snake form of Jafar. I've heard that the Fantasmic! at DL is the superior version, but they are different if you're interested in checking out the WDW one.

All of the night shows are included in your ticket. Dessert parties are extra. Nothing is a MUST, really. But if you enjoyed Fantasmic at DLR, I think you should try to see Wishes and Illuminations. The Star Wars Fireworks Spectacular ( or whatever it's current name ) is on nightly right after Fantasmic. You might want to watch that instead.

Also, depending on your dates, Rivers of Light at AK may be up and running. It's supposed to be amazing!
Each park has nightime shows at no charge. The MK Electrical Parade is awesome, but not always scheduled. There is also a Water and Light Parade on Bay Lake that you can watch for free from any of the resorts lining the lake. (All the monorail resorts plus FW and WL)
