Best Nassau excursion???? Comfort Inn??

Anyone have any thoughts on the best Nassau excursion? We love the beach and to swim, but we will have a 3 1/2 year old and a 7 year old. Any opinions? Anybody go to the public beaches? Has anyone rented a room at the Comfort Inn? Is it a long walk to the Atlantis?
