I have been to Disney twice, once in Oct. and once in early Dec. Iwant to go whent it is least crowded but how do you know if there are a lot of conferences going on or something special going on at the sporting facilities? I know Disney posts some special events but not all of them. Is it really cold in Jan.?

I'd pick January over September because September is hotter and rainer (is rainer a word?).

I would say that January would be quieter.. but it can be quite cold! September is scorching weather and quite humid.. but again low crowds. We do September most years...

Sept would be my choice. October is actually better as its less rainy.. you have the food and wine festival (or whatever its called) at Epcot and also its pretty uncrowded.
In my experience, it doesnt make much difference when the conferences are on.. mostly the delegates are in the conferences.. and conferences happen ALL year round!

We have been December, April, May, June, August, September, October, November and we have never noticed conference people!

Never been in January, but assume it is not crowded, however, you're taking a chance on the cold temp.

Went in Sept 2003 the week after Labor (kids' school opened a week late), and crowds were real small, plus it wasn't overly hot. We got real lucky w/ the weather, as September is height of hurricane season. Look what happened in 2004.

I'd say that you're safest w/ January. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo princess: princess: princess: :wizard:

We went in September last year (3rd week or so) and the weather was perfect. It was in the low 80's and perfectly hot. It was of course a little humid but we were never uncomfortable. It didn't rain once.

However, we were chased out by a hurricane so I suppose it's not the best time to go. But if you get lucky and there are no hurricanes during your trip, I can't imagine a better time.

January would be my vote. the parks are quieter and it's not so hot

I like Sept. better. You never know about the weather in either month though. We lucked out and went in between hurricanes this year. Jan. can be really cold or really nice. January was more crowded this year than last.

We left Jan 6 of this year and the parks were still very crowded. We went last september and walked on everything and the weather was much nicer. I would pick september in a heartbeat.

I go in mid-late September every year
Never had a problem with rain
no crowds
walk on all
sound like i am selling a house

I've done both and liked September better. January, although quiet, was TOO COLD :cold: Hated wearing gloves and ear muffs and couldn't go on water rides! September was hot, but the crowds were also non-existent and we got to do everything we wanted to! :cool1:

I have been in both Sept and Jan. I was there the last week of Sept 2004 and then in Jan 2005 (19-26) and I thought that the crowd levels were very similar...January had maybe a few less people that Sept. If I had to pick I would pick Sept...the weather in Jan was not all that warm and I do prefer warmer weather. I would however go again in January, but I would have to go again in a warmer month so I could go to the water parks and use the pools :)

We go in September and love it have planned this year to go then as well.

Why aren't you going in October again (as opposed to Sept)?

Last year several people I know went in oct. and said it was crowded. Plus now the Wine and Food festival starts Sept. 30 and runs until nov. something. I just want to go when I can walk onto all the rides and be able to see the parks instead of the back of peoples heads.

My family and I have been there in both January and September, and enjoyed both months, but with each subsequent visit to WDW in January, it seems to be colder. This past January we were there for six days, and it hit a high of at least 70 twice. That is the high, the average temp. was much closer to high 50s or low 60s. At one point, we were at Epcot at about 7:30 pm, with EMH, late hours, yet decided to leave because of the arctic wind blowing across the park. When we got back to our room, we saw on the television that it was 41 degrees out! :cold: We love January, but this year we are opting for late September into early October. This way the weather won't be an issue if we'd like to stay out late, or do some water rides or parks. I know the F&W runs then, but instead of being afraid of it, I think we'll book one of its events :teeth:

We try to go in Sept and Jan but if we had to only pick one it would be Sept since the weather is much warmer you can get some good pool time in.

Been twice in September and loved it. January can be rainy and cold, depressing. :umbrella: One word of caution, though, from someone who lives in the Gulf South....Hurricane.

We go in January every year. This past Janaury was our 7th January. The crowds are really low ( except over Martin Luther King weekend) and the weather can be nice. Coming from PA in late January, ANYthing is warmer than here!!! We have had a variety of weather from really cold ( in 2003 it was 28 one morning, to mid 80's as it was in 2002). We went from Jan. 28 - Feb 4th this year, and all of our days were nice. It was in the low 70's, I wore capris and tshirt with a very light cotton jacket most days. One day was upper 70's and one day was cloudy, windy and in the 50's. We just made that our DTD disney day. The very next day, which was our last day, it was back up to the mid-upper 70's and beautiful. If you are looking for hot weather, and time in the pools and water parks, then January isnt your best bet. If you are looking for low crowds, nice weather and dont really care if you need to wear Jeans some days, then January is the best time to go. As for rain, It rained for 15 minutes on our first trip in 1999. It never rained on us again until 2004. It rained off and on ONE day. This trip, it rained the first night we got there later at night, and I know we brought out ponchos on a few days just in case, but Im not sure it did ever rain again. Rain has not been a factor for us on our January trips. We love it then!! Cant wait to get back there again in Jan 2006!!! ( we have also added a trip at thanksgiving the past few years, so Im looking to that one again first!!! )

I pick late Sept. Thats the time I go. Yes it rains but only for about half an hour tops and stops and dries quickly. You just do indoor rides at that time. Its perfect and Farmers Almanac perdicts a hurricane for begining of Sept this year so I will be safe. I was in last years Jeanne and it wasn't to bad.

Thanks for posting this we are going Sep 11-16, 2005 and I was not too sure what to expect in terms of the crowds. I am a little concerned about the weather I guess I will just pray for good weather!! :grouphug:
