Best month to go to WDW?

I am finally ready to take the family to WDW. Now the question is when?

We live in Oregon and I was thinking about going in April after spring break was over. Maybe March is better?

I know I don't want to go in the summer but I want to go when it's warm enough for the water parks.

Also, if you were going and could stay at any resort, which one would you pick if you had 2 kids ages 7 and 9?

Here's my 2 cents. Go in May (we just went this past May and the weather was awesome) and stay at either the Beach Club or the Yacht Club. We stayed in the Yacht Club and the pool is great. You also can walk to MGM and Epcot. It's a great area.

There are two considerations to take into account - the weather and the crowd levels. As for weather, you're going to get everyone saying feb is warm enough, or march, or april, and lots of folks say april, may, june is too hot! The best you can do is go by 'averages'. As for crowd levels, check out touringplans.com. They have a day by day crowd level indicator that will give you a good estimate on when to go when it's not so crowded. Not so coincidentally, the lower the crowd level, the better hotel deals you'll find too.

Well, as far as hotels the first thing I would ask you is....how much money do you want to spend? With only two kids you can fit in any hotel, but there is a HUGE price difference between the deluxe resorts and the values. I would agree with Beach Club if money is no consideration, but the values are fun too and you still get all of the Disney perks. You also have to see what kind of specials they are running. Agree 100% about the weather, pp has a great site to check out. What is "hot" to some people is BARELY warm enough for shorts to me. We do not swim when it is cool, ever though the pools are heated they are never really warm to me and getting out into the cool air is miserable. I would say May you will definitely be able to swim, the earlier months would be iffy to me.

Oh, I forgot.... to the DIS! If you have not read the Unofficial Guide to WDW try to get it from the library or something. They have great info about all things Disney! Also, are you trying to work around a school schedule or work issues? Have fun planning

If you don't mind taking the kids out of school for a couple of days, then middle of october is pretty good. We went during that time and had fun swimming, at water parks and everywhere else.

We picked late April early May to avoid Easter and hopefully the intense heat. We also want to be able toswim. Looking at these boards is also an indicator off crowd levels I would think and so far our time is looking good ,not too many disers posting those dates . Also is a low rainfall time of year so maybe humidity will not be as bad. We had planned on October till dd found out it was still hurricane season!! We picked POP as their are 5 of us and it was cheaper to get 2 rooms at a value than 1 at a deluxe that would allow 5. The kids really picked it they love the icons and the Goofy jets. Good luck choosing.

We have been to DW the first week of Oct.,twice during the 2nd week of Nov., and once the last week of April. In April was the best swimming/water park weather. We made sure to take mid-day breaks by the pool, the kids also enjoyed night swimming and a day at the waterpark and no rain all week. We are thinking about going back around the same time again!

Hello fellow Oregonian! We have visited WDW (twice ) and cruised DCL (once) during the last week of April and LOVED IT! Have been to WDW end of February, Mid March, late October and early/mid November.

The last week of April had amazing weather and the crowds were light. Next choice would be early/mid November for weather/crowds.

I have been in Jan., Feb., April and October. I loved OCtober the best. It is still on the warm side but they have MNSSHP which is awesome. My second choice would be January. I live in RI and its a wonderful excape from the New England cold. Sometimes there can be a cold snap but we have always been very lucky and its been warm 70 (coming from -5 its a very hot 70 )

DS asked if the next time we go, can it be around christmas time so he can see the parks decorated.

Typically, whenever there is NO school holidays, that is the BEST time to go to WDW. We have been in Jan., May, Sept. Oct. and early Dec. Sept has been the best for us so far, with Oct. running a close second. Weather still a bit too hot but we kind of like it like that!! Forces you to relax a bit more, take that afternoon resort break/swim, etc. Crowd level is soooo low, even with free dining last year!!! We rarely waited for any ride the entire 10 days we spent there!

As previous posts have already said - the resort you choose will obviously be determined by what you are willing to spend$$$$!! Beach Club DOES look great, has one of the best swimming pools and is in a location that can't be beat. However, for us, we have a hard time justifying the additional $$$$ and have no problem staying at Pop Century (the BEST Value resort in WDW!)

Thanks everyone! I think mid to late April is what I am going to shoot for.
Now it's time to figure out that epic decision.... where to stay.

I think we would be fine at a moderate, heck we stay at value hotels when we go to Disneyland every year and we have a great time. The thing is, this might be our only trip to WDW so we may as well make it special. Anyone have a favorite value and a favorite moderate? A good pool is important but we will be in the parks all day I suspect.

Moderate: Port Orleans Riverside (Mansions)

When our girls were small we would go in November. It was pretty quiet at the parks, no long lines and still warm enough during the day that we could use the pool. For resort to stay at: I would choose Dixie landings (now port Orleans riverside) great pool and playground and you can also walk to port Orleans French Quarter and use thei pool.
