Just curious your favorite time of year to camp at FW? How is the weather? bugs? busy?

ETA: We would be in a pop up or tent.

Thanks!

We like early to mid December. Our dates this year are 12/4-12/13. After the Thanksgiving people, before the Christmas crowds. At this time everything is decorated for Christmas. Crowds are very low but the weather is a little cooler but comfortable in our motorhome! We have been at WDW every calendar month and this is our favorite.

I prefer the later half of October, after Columbus Day week. While the parks are not empty, I'd say it's less than average. The weather can be cooler at night, but during the day the temp is 70s to mid-80s. We have had some really hot days though.

You also have all the great Halloween decorations around the Fort and the rest of WDW, and the Food & Wine Fest is going on over in Epcot.

:sad1:I don't have a favorite month to camp at the Fort. I haven't been often enough to have an opinion.

But, the last time we were there it was in September. Yikes! Now that was humidity! I think it might have been monsoon season!

Middle of Oct to the 1st week in February. Cool, but seldom really cold and not as rainy as during the summer with the almost daily PM thunderstorms. Also except for around 15-31 Dec it's mostly value season rates.

We have camped at the fort in every month but January and July, our favorite time is October and December. The weather can still be warm (hot) even at this time of the year. As said--crowds are not bad until Christmas week.

Ditto!

I've been there in the summer, too hot and humid and a usual thunder shower. We've all been late October to mid November a few times, very comfortable, feels like summer time for me, temps around 80 and not as humid, still good swimming weather, the kids love Trick or Treating at Magic Kingdom (MNSSHP) and at the Fort. We've also been the beginning of December to mid December, still very comfortable weather, high's were still near 80 when we were there, not sure if that was just a fluke or not, the X-mas decorations look great. But we love Halloween time the BEST.

I'll take any time I can get at the Fort,,but my favorite is Oct,,:thumbsup2

Good weather,,bugs not real bad,,crowds are so-so depending.
And most importantly, the fishing is generally good at that time.

3,

The shoulder seasons are the best for tent camping. As in spring (mid-Feb to late May) or fall (mid-Sep to mid-Dec). Spring is a costly time though at the Fort. Rates are higher across the board for the spring break-Easter crowds. If you snag an after-Easter-before-summer trip that works good.

The fall is nice after the daily thunderboomers subside. Those summer daily showers are something else. It's also humid as heck. Different holiday periods are busy though around Halloween (fer shure) and Thanksgiving Week.

A lot of locals (Florida residents mostly) come on weekends and fill the Fort in these shoulder seasons and its more empty during the weekdays. If you can manage air condioning in your tent or pop-up (some bring it for the tent) you can hit the summer months more.

The week leading up to Christmas through New Years week is crowded and expensive. Jan and early Feb can be cold and dicy; some days are wonderful but there can be some cold/wet stretches in there.

Check out the threads about reserving a long stretch to include the days you want (then cancel the unwanted days after you get your ressie). Please cancel soon after the initial ressie rather than later so someone else has a shot to get in the Fort.

Enjoy! :3dglasses

Here's my list from most favorite to least. The weather is comparable to home so my list puts a lot of weight on when I like best to be at Disney i.e. Christmas, Halloween, birthdays, etc. I haven't been able to be at FW on Halloween yet but I have reservations for this year and really high expectations (maybe even unrealistic)!

December - Christmas decorations & MVMCP
October - Halloween and MNSSHP
November - Nice weather & Christmas decorations
April - One time I want to be there for my birthday!
February - Nice weather & family birthdays
January - Nice weather
May - Nice weather
March - Spring at WDW when it is still a little cold at home some days
June -still not too hot (remember I am from SC so otherwise I would be at the beach)
September - Hot, humid and chance of hurricane
July - HOT
August - HOT
