Best Month for Cruise

If your calendar for the year was entirely free and you could pick any month to take the Disney Cruise, which month would you choose and why? I have been on one Disney Cruise, it was in January and the weather was awful, I would like to try and not make that mistake again.

I have sailed in October and twice in December and not had any weather problems. We are going on the Magic this year in September and the Wonder in December. Mother Nature will do as she pleases and can be very difficult to plan around. There is hurricane season to think about but chilly and rain can also be an unpleasant guest on your trip.

We sailed on Nov. 1, 2001 and the weather was great. November is my absolute favorite month in Florida. It's the very end of hurricane season so we rarely see any activity. The temps are usually in the 80's.

We are planning a 7 day for the middle of October this year because my son has a day off of school that week. One less day to miss. If it wasn't for that we'd be doing the Halloween cruise.

Research in the passporter seemed to show that the first two weeks of May are great.

The weather has yet to get TOO hot, but since the kids are still in school rates are real low.

If I could just get rid of my kids...........

My future wife and I are planning our honeymoon - we plan to create our own WDW vacation by booking a 4-day Disney cruise, and a 7-day park stay to follow. However, our wedding is planned for August 2004 in the Northeast - which is HOT enough! We realize that cruising and vacationing in FL in August will be hot, but I wonder if anyone else might have cruised and/or vacationed at the Parks during this time of year...

Any advise would be enormously helpful

We cruised and did the parks in August of 2002. The humidiity didn't bother us as much as I thought it would. We spent 6 nights at WDW and did a 3 day cruise. The only thing that was pretty annoying was the fact that everyone says when it rains in Florida it only rains for 10 minutes and then, it is clear again. Well, in August that is not the case. 4 of the nights were there it rained for a good 3 hours during dinner time like between 6 and 10 pm. I mean it down pour of buckets. Also, throughout our stay it would rain off on through the day. I think, without kids it would be much easier to navigate through the parks and stuff. We still had a good time despite the rain. It did not rain at on the cruise. It was very sunny weather and hot. And, we did not run into any hurricane trouble but I think that was just a chance we had to take.

I agree with Jim. My wife and I have sailed the last week in April / the first week in May and it was great. We have another planed for the last week in April this year. According to Disney, this is the cheapest week of the year.

We have sailed in July, June, April and October and April has been by far the best.

Thanks for the helpful info! Truth is, I hadn't given rain much of a thought. I suppose that there isn't a whole lot anyone can do about the weather, but it is good to know that August might wind up being a rainy month.

There is also little that we can do about the timing for our honeymoon. We loved our first vacation at WDW so much, that we decided that's where we would go on our honeymoon. So, we are going to forge ahead and book our trip with our travel agent sometime this week. I'll continue looking here on the forums and on other helpful sights to do as much planning as we can (this was key to our success on our last trip to WDW).

Thanks again - I'll keep checking in here, and posting questions where I need help. I'm glad I registered here - I'm hoping I won't have to go anywhere else to learn what I need to know to enjoy ourselves on our honeymoon!

We like Sept/Oct. No crowds, lower fares, and still nice and warm. We've done July and August (too hot). We've done Jan and Feb. several times, mostly it was great, but one time we got a real cold snap and couldn't swim. I like doing off season because you have fewer school aged kids...

We did the Thanksgiving Magic Cruise the past November and the weather was perfect! It was cold when we got back to FL on 11/29; we were told this was out of the ordinary. The weather on the islands was gorgeous.
I'm not sure if this is true for '04, but our Thanksgiving cruise gave us an extra day at Castaway Cay. A boat race was going through Key West, so we got that extra day.

We have been on four Disney Cruises. Two in May, one in August, and November. Although the weather was great on all of them, May is my favorite. We have another booked for the first week in May this year also. Great weather, calm seas.

Thanks for the info Wendy. You must have been on the Western Cruise. We'll be on the Eastern the week after Thanksgiving so we won't get an extra day at Castaway Cay.

That's my answer too... I had looked at threads about weather, looked up prices, etc. and really wish we could go beginning of May also... but alas, kiddos in school.

When did you go in May? I'm kicking around the 1st week of May for our next cruise, and I don't like the thought of humidity!!! My dh can become a real grump...
