We will have a 3 yo DS and 6 yo DD on next trip. Which MK resort has the best pool in general, and for little ones. (Including WL, too).

It's been a while, but when visiting the GF I remember the pool being fairly plain and the CR was a giant Mickey Mouse....is this still the case? Water slide is a big plus for DD~!

Thanks so much :)

The GF and the Poly have zero entry pools now. They are both fun. Our children liked the beach when they were litte so it was nice to have it to play on and then the pool to swim in. The new slide at the Poly is fun but it is long and very dark. Some children wouldn't enjoy it. I haven't seen the GF pool but maybe someone else can tell you. They use to have music from Radio Disney at the Cont. pool.

We just got back from the Polynesian and the pool was great! My 3 year old DD LOVED IT. We were there everyday. The waterslide was a blast. Fast and fun. The kids were going down over and over. My little one was too scared but her Daddy and Mommy went down. There were other really little kids going down. I guess it depends on your child. I really liked the zero depth entry since she felt like she could go in the bid kids pool and not a baby pool. We have stayed at WL too and liked their pool. The waterslide is nice there too. They have a baby pool.

This may sound really dumb, but I'm wondering what "zero entry" means. I've seen in on some other posts about pools and I thought I could figure it out just by reading but I haven't yet.

Zero Entry is like a beach. You start walking in the water at just toe depth then it gradually gets deeper. Very nice for the little kids though you have to watch they don't go too deep.

Zero entry means that at one end you can walk in. It's similar to a beach, there isn't a wall like some pools.

A "zero entry" pool is one that has a gradual slope into the pool like entering the water from a beach. It's great for people in wheelchairs and small children. My 3 year old DD loves a zero entry pool because she can go as deep as she wants and no more ;). She been taking lessons, so maybe she'll be braver in December ... luckily Disney allows you to borrow children's lifevests for use in the pool for free.

I love the pools at the Grand Floridian. They are really nice - both a theme pool (with waterfall and waterslide), and a huge quiet pool (which is the courtyard pool). AND, I even prefer the GF pools to StormAlong Bay at the Yacht/Beach Clubs!

WOW...you all are quick. Thanks for the info.

I would say the Polynesian:D I love to sit in the shallow end with my toddler while my 4 yr old plays in the sand or the water splashing area. My 7 yr old loves to go down the slide over and over again. One of our favorite things to do is watch the MK fireworks while we are swimming late at night:D The GF pool looks very nice with the zero-entry (which is a big plus for our family). I just wish it would be open later for that night time swim:cool:

The pool(s) at the Poly are fab! The quiet pool is just that, along with being very beautiful (check it out at night - awesome) and very relaxing. The themed, volcano pool is a ton of fun. While the pool alone is great (zero entry, really neat slide - 'nuff said) in itself, it's hard to ignore the fact that it's right on the beach and has an incredible view of the GF and a lessor, but not least, view of the Contemp. The best, however, is the view FROM THE POOL of the Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon. The fireworks can be seen while you are taking a dip...swimming. Ahhhhh...the water pageant too. (Did I mention the drinks at the pool bar, yum..the Lava Flow is my personal fave!!) You don't even need to leave the pool at the Poly to see some of Disney's finest. Very cool. This resort is Disney at its best. Enjoy.:bounce:

While the Poly pool is probably the best themed, it is also not very big. It does, however, have a great view of the castle and direct access to the beach. It also features underwater speakers for music when you are under the water or floating on your back. Be aware that there is no hot tub, which may or may not be important to you. There is an area of the pool that has jets and a bench, but the pressure isn't very intense, and the temp. is the same as the rest of the pool.

I like the GF pool, though it too isn't as big as it should be (the quiet pool is fantastic however (huge and right in the middle of the resort). GF has hot tubs as well.

The CR is actually a very nice pool now, though it isn't really themed. They play Radio Disney music around the area, and there are two pools very close together, with two or three hot tubs near by. The slide is very nice at the CR, almost like a water park slide from the looks of it (though I never used it). There is also a playground and huge gameroom near the pool if that matters to your kids.

Take it from a fellow central Connecticut-er (nutmegger??) and take the kids to the Polynesian. The zero entry area is great with young kids. Also, the Polynesian has a kids water play area near the volcano pool (which wasn't working on our last visit (8/01) which has the fountains that shoot up from the ground.

The slide inside the volcano may be too scary for your young children. My 8 year old loved it, but my 3 year old was too intimidated by the darkness. The slide at the Wilderness Lodge is much tamer and was well used on a trip when my oldest was just 5.

Have a great trip wherever you stay!
