I have booked the All Star Movies but if a new Visa rate or annual pass rate comes out, I would like to book a moderate resort instead. What would be the best resort for a Mom, Dad, daughter(10,) and son (6?) My kids love swimming in a pool or near a beach.
Thank You!pirate:

From what I have read, I would have to say POFQ!!!

it has a romantic feel.. you can use the pool from POR.. just completed renovations.. beautiful grounds.. not too big..

Good Luck!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Freiden8 - you've never stayed at a moderate, how can you comment on this?

POR definitely has a large fan base, so there is lots to read about it.

All the mods are good for different reasons.

I have stayed at CSR twice so will comment on that. CSR is the biggest mod and some people don't like that, it seems too big, I like it because I never feel confined! I also don't feel that walking to El Centro from anywhere at CSR is too long, but if you've got youngun's, it might be a hike, so request a room closer to El Centro.

CSR has a lot of recreation, sand volleball court, large pool plus three quiet pools, arcade, health spa, poolside bar and snacks, bike rentals, and more. It's a good resort to just hang out at for an off-day from the parks.

It's not close to anything (IMHO). You can't walk to Epcot, there's no boat to MGM, so you rely on WDW busses - but there are a lot of them and they are a dedicated route - meaning you dohn't stop anywhere else!

It has a business convention center - good and bad. More "suits" walking around, less kids (still kid friendly). They have suites there too (only mod with suites).

I love the southwest theme! It just relaxes me the instant I get there! Then again, I'm from the mid-atlanic, not New Mexico! If I lived in the southwest, the theme might seem a little boring.

Figure out what you want in a resort and look at all of them - I can't wait to stay at the others, but CSR has a special place in my heart.

We've done CSR a couple of times, but our favorite amoung the moderates is CBR. The rooms are larger, the theming is very relaxed and festive. Multiple pools, beaches with hammocks, the main pool with cabana and good foodcourt with ample shopping has brought us back. The food court at CSR is also super (we still go there to dine) but there is a 10% tip added for what amounts to counter service, also you have to go throught the line even for drink refills. Can't go wrong with any of the resorts, regardless of which you pick. Enjoy!

I have stayed in all of the moderates and here is my opinion on all. My favorite by far is POFQ. The theming is wonderful thgrounds are incredible and renovatrd rooms are even better. Great pool and food court. My second favorite is POR. It is also great like the FQ good pool and great grounds. I like CS, but it is very large. I dont like CB at all. It has long walks and it is not very nice.

Carribean Beach Resort has the best theming in my opinion. Great pools and beaches too. Big food court. Obviously, this is just a matter of opinion.

I've stayed at PoR, CBR, and POFQ. Each time we went, we had a great time. There were different things to like at each place. Our kids had fun at Ol' Man Island Pool, The Dragon Pool and Playgrounds of FQ and the beach at CBR. However, on trips over 5 days, we got really tired of foodcourt food (at the time, there were very few healthy selections) and we now have more children so we need more room. We have found that the Home Away from Home Resorts are the best bet for us timewise, foodwise, spacewise, and moneywise. If we had two kids, we would probably go for POFQ and bring a little mini-electric skillet so we could make our own scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Dear Ducky4Disney
Who do you think you are making a statement like this?
Who appointed you High Priest of the Dis boards? Maybe you should go back and Read Freiden8 post again.

From what I have read

1. Sounds to me like Freiden8 knows how to read.
2. Sounds to me like Freiden8 knows how to research a Resort.
3. Sounds to me like Freiden8 gave her opinion based on Her research.

I don't know what Republic you come from my dear, but this is America where we have a right to voice our opinions.

This has been discussed and debated many times on the boards. If you spend some time going back you may find a few of the threads.

In my view its POFQ no doubt. Smaller and nicer than the rest with the river boat transportation to DTD.

I was thinking the same.

Do all of the moderates have zero entry pools?

Thanks, T&B

:D

I have stayed at the CBR and the CSR. Both are great resorts, but of the two, I would choose the CSR. It's big, but the variet in theming is awesome. I stayed in the Ranchos section, which is farthest from El Centro. I didn't mind the walk, but I understand that you have children, so maybe staying in the Casitas section would be better for you. As far as seeing only people who were there for a convention, I disagree. There were a few conventions taking place when I was there and I assure you, it's a lot more family oriented than it's made out to be. The main pool area, or the Dig Site as it is officially known, is cool. There's a long water slide that even adults love and there is a kiddie pool, too. I don't have children so I can't comment on the kiddie pool other than to say it's next to the main pool. Have a great time no matter ehat resort you choose.

My family loves POR and will be staying there for the 3rd time next month. My kids always had plenty to do, the quiet pools are totally closes and convenient as were the laundry facilities. Food court was good and the prices were decent. The landscaping is fabulous and the bt rides to DTD cant be beat. I would , however like to try the other moderates just so we can have a good comparison when people from the boards ask questions about them....for I'm afraid of getting flamed by giving an opinion on a resort I have yet to stay in:cool:

I've stayed at the CBR a few times and I love it for several reasons. I like the theming, the fact that there are several quiet pools in addition to the main pool, the food court, boating/biking activities, arcade and beaches to relax on at the hammocks. It's very relaxing to stroll the grounds at night or grab a frozen drink at the Banana Cabana (main pool bar). I think the rooms are a good size and they clean and bright.

CSR does not have a zero entry pool but the side by the temple is largely one big step.

Any idea how deep it is at the most shallow?

Thanks, T&B
