Best moderate resort for a Disney first-timer?

May I chirp in?

One bus stop rather than many stops is not a big deal in the am-
But late at night; can feel like a long ride.

Based on this criteria, I would suggest Coronado Springs. But only if it will be several months before you go, as its under heavy construction right now. DH and I have stayed at all the moderates, and while I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, Coronado fits this description the best IMO.

Coronado caters to business travelers and convention attendees, so by nature of this, the resort seems to feel more adult-oriented. There are three bars on-site, and a few extra dining options than the other moderate resorts. It also has a gym and spa, which is just a little extra that the others don't have. The decor is very well-themed, and really transports you but doesn't scream Disney at all.

I completely agree with the above. This was my resort of choice prior to kids. I also feel that it has great bus service and didn’t take too long to get anywhere.

Good points. The resort is pretty centrally located. And with much of the resort having business travelers on-site at any given time, it seems as if the buses aren't jam packed to the parks.

It'll be several YEARS before we go (paying off undergrad debt, going to grad school, moving...) just trying to get an idea! :)

I agree with POFQ! We stayed here for our very 1st trip with the kids and loved it. My friend always recommends Coronado. Carribbean Beach was popular in the past from what I remember reading but we were not a fan of this resort. It was too big and too many people. Stepping around someone passed out drunk while walking to our room didn't help the experience

Most votes seem to be going to the 2 Port Orleans Resorts as best Moderate and I can agree 100%.
The other Moderates Caribbean Beach and Coranado Springs are being ruined by being in the shadow of the monstrous tall buildings under construction next to them . Sad .
