Best mode of transportation from Old Key West?

Rental car is the best, otherwise you take the bus which can involve long waits.

...which can involve long waits.

And multiple stops, I might add. We actually found it faster to walk over to another section of OKW and pick up the bus there, as it was the last stop, not the first before leaving the resort. Otherwise, we'd get on the bus near our room, and then proceed to stop a few more places before finally getting on our way to where we were going.

We love it there, BTW, but it definitely requires some patience for transportation. A rental car is a good option for OKW.

We always rent a car at OKW. Our son and DIL often join us in a close by studio and we can drive them to/from parks at least one way. We got home last Saturday and if they went out when we weren't around they had some very long waits and loops around OKW, however the resort (like most of the resorts) were not busy.

From OKW its easiest to drive everywhere except the MK. OKW is so convenient for those with a car since its essentially parked right outside your room. The only reason not to drive to the MK is that the bus will drop you off at the gates while driving will require you to park at the TTC and then monorail/boat over to the MK.

Cheapest: bus
Most annoying: bus
Easiest: rental car
Ok option: Uber/Lyft
