I am looking for a good TS restaurant at MK for dinner. What would you recommend besides character meals (CP, CRT)?

Sadly, nothing...I would plan on a meal at one of the MK resorts. We tried Tony's 2 weeks ago and the food was not good at all. I have never done LTT for dinner because the menu doesn't appeal to me.
I would look into OHana, Kona, Whispering Canyon, The Wave, etc...all are a quick monorail ride away and offer MUCH better food/atmosphere than the MK TS. If I HAD to pick one in the park then I would say the Plaza.

Last August DF and I ate at Tony's and really liked it. We had an early lunch there and I had the spaghetti and meatballs. We thought that it was fabulous and charater free!!! We are going back in December for our honeymoon and its a must hit lunch spot for us. :dance3:

I too would recommend you jump on the monorail and head over to the Polynesian and eat at either Kona Cafe or 'Ohana. You could also try the Wave at the Contemporary. If you are looking for a more upscale meal you could try California Grill at the Contemporary or Narcoosees or Citricos at the Grand Floridian. So many options are open to you when you take advantage of the quick access on the monorail.

As for MK we like Crystal Palace, but that is off your list for the characters. We have never eaten at Tony's but checking out the menu it doesn't look that bad.

There's the Plaza.

If you're willing to leave the park and go to the Poly, I highly recommend 'Ohana.

That's what I pretty much figured. We definitely prefer the resort restaurants for dinner. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a place in MK that was worth trying. We have eaten at Plaza which I though was okay. DH didn't like it though. We are staying at CR, so after afternoon nap/break, we will eat either at CR or head to Kona Cafe and then go back to MK. We've eaten there & it was good. My fav is Narcoossee's, but DH doesn't want to eat there this trip.
Thanks!

We really liked the Grand Floridian Cafe at the GF. Very relaxing, excellent service, great food and just a short monorail ride away!

i've eaten at CRT, Tony's, and Liberty Tree Tavern, and LTT is by far my favorite. Their food is the best and the atmosphere is not too chaotic.

I really enjoyed LTT. I will echo the other posters by highly recommending O'hanas and Whispering Canyon Cafe, but you don't have to leave the park if you don't want to. LTT is one of my favorite TS! The Plaza charges you for a TS, but your meal is really a CS. I've eaten there twice because my wife loves Reubens, but even she agrees we won't return there.

We love The Plaza. While I agree it is far from fine cuisine, it is a step well above typical counter service fare. The sandwiches and salads are very good. I suppose if you are on the dining plan, you would feel they are "charging you" for TS but we pay OOP for everything and find the food to always be good and consistent.....the waitstaff?? eh.

LTT is one of my most favorite places to eat in all of WDW! It's a must for every trip! The food is delicious, the interior is quaint, but unfortunately, it is no longer character dining (which fits your criteria!). It's served family style which means that it's a fixed price, but you can get as much as you want. If you like Thanksgiving-type food, this is the place for you! :goodvibes

Definately another vote for Liberty Tree Tavern. The food is great and its all you can eat family style. I ate so much, I could barely walk out of there!

We have never found a TS menu that has appealed to us, so we have always done as was suggested upthread - went to a resort for lunch. This time, though, we are going to try LTT since so many people recommend it. I'm not convinced we'll like it. The menu seems a little dull. But the only way to know is to try.

If you are paying OOP and planning to go to a resort restaurant, I would strongly recommend Captain Cook's at the Poly, which is QS. It was awesome!

We've eaten at Kona and WCC. We weren't wowed by either of them and the service at WCC was simply terrible when we were there. We would give Kona another shot but for dinner next time. California Grill was great but I don't know if they do lunch.
