Not sure whether to post here or family board, but here goes -- Which MGM sit down restaurant do you think a 3 1/2 year old enjoy most? I'm not sure she'd "get it" at 50s Prime time cafe place or the sci-fi dinner place or if those would be better than the less obvious themed ones that are a bit nicer. Or, would it be better to skip a sit down place there and just do Toy Story pizza or some other counter service?

 Breakfast & lunch at Hollywood and Vine is a character buffet with the PLayhouse Disney gang. JoJo/Goliath/Lil einstein's... for a 3.5 year old you can't beat it!

Agree with PP. However I think even a 3.5 yo may get a big kick out of eating in a car at Sci-Fi (especially if they get to be "driver"). Some of the film loop could be disturbing -- it depends on the child. But there are also a couple of good cartoons.

I agree with the PP's - Hollywood and Vine for late breakfast or lunch or Sci Fi for lunch or dinner would be great for your kiddo.
My 3 YO DS really enjoyed seeing the Little Einsteins at Hollywood and Vine. And, we all really liked the atmosphere of Sci Fi. That restaurant has gotten mixed reviews, but our burgers, onion rings, milk shakes and fries hit the spot. (I was easily able to share my shake with DS by asking for an extra cup with lid and straw). The atmosphere was fun and there were lots of kids there.
We picked Sci Fi because we had really bad experiences at crowded counter service restaurants at MGM in the past (hit them at peak time and had to deal with long lines and waiting for tables). Making an ADR for lunch was a bit more expensive, but we will definitely do it again.

We had a great time at the H&V Playhouse Disney breakfast too. WE aslo like SciFi for lunch as well. DS4 did great at both.

+1

This was our DD2 and nephew2's favorite character meal during Magical Beginnings last year. I highly recommend it.

My boys loved H&V at lunch. The characters and singing....they had a blast!!

Thanks for the tips! How "scary" is the sci fi restaurant? My DD is fairly easily scared.

The lighting is a bit low because it's meant to simulate a night time drive-in, and some of the sci-fi movie previews on the big screen can be a slightly loud and intense (ATTACK OF THE 30 FOOT WOMAN - AIIIIIYEEE!!!). Sitting towards the back of the restaurant away from the screen might be helpful. We didn't find the movie clips to be too bad, but every kid is different.

I think Hollywood and Vine or 50's Prime Time.

We took DS4 to 50's this past October and he did great. He LOVED seeing grandpa get in trouble for not eating his veggies. They have TV clips there, but nothing scary at all.

Imagine B sci fi movies form the 1950s. Big blobs, evil aliens wrapped in tin foil, very cheesy special effects, and they play the Purple People Eater a lot.

Clarification: What you see are promos for the movies in question. And calling them "B" movies is too generous. These are the most ridiculous plots, worst acting, and cheesiest special effects you can imagine. Imagine making a movie on a budget of $50K, spent mostly for electricity, film, and aluminum and cardboard for the costumes. For anyone over the age of 7, it's not scary but rather hilarious and/or unbelievable that people made and presumably watched these turkeys. "Attack of the 50-foot Woman" looks like an Oscar candidate in this company. :rotfl:

Sadly, "Purple People Eater" is only played once, as is Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls 'O Fire".
