We are staying off-site at Cypress Harbour (near Sea World) We will be mainly touring Disney Parks, and are looking for the Best Mexican food in the area of our hotel or near the Disney Parks. We're looking for food around the same price range as a TGI Fridays/Chilis....nothing Gourmet, just good authentic Mexican food.

Any Recs?

I haven't been to this place, but your question got me curious. The restaurant below is very well reviewed (more than most restaurants), and is the place I will be trying once I get a craving for Mexican. At first I thought the reviews were too good to be true, but they all reflect the same thing "Excellent food, but the service might be a bit sketchy." Even the local newspaper reviewed it the same way.

It's just down the road from you in the "Universal" area.

If you go before me, please let me know how it is. I'll do the same if I get a chance to go soon.

the best Mexican I know is Rene, the cook at the restaurant where I waitress.;):rotfl:

I've forgotten the name of the place, family-owned, but from Cyprus Harbor head out to Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road and turn left, then take a right onto 535. It's in with the Steak & Shake, next door to it in fact. Maybe a 10 minute drive.

If you are thinking of El Patron, we went there in July...not that impressive. Service was slow and food was just fair.

Cantina Laredo - one of the best Mexican meals I've had outside of Mexico. It is 8000 Via Dellagio off Sand Lake Road W (about 1/2 mi before S Apopka Vineland on the North Side of the road). Fairly near to Universal/Seaworld. When we went, I could not get my GPS to find the address, so called the restaurant and they gave me the name of a restaurant on the Sand Lake side of the development. Mapquest shows it as around 7935 W Sand Lake Road.

We found this place based on a good review in the Orlando Sentinal. It is a moderate price restaurant, a bit more than Chilis - but much better food. Must have the guac and chips. The guacamole is made right at your table. My only complaint is that they didn't have Pacifco Clara (beer) available.
