Best massage experience in or around WDW?

DW & I would like to take a day in the middle of our Nov/Dec trip to get a massage and relax. It does not have to be on WDW property (we can drive) so if there is a better experience or value nearby to WDW we'd be happy to do that instead (I was thinking perhaps the Gaylord Palms or similar?).

Any recommendations? We'd love to hear you WDW spa/massage experiences, too. Hard to find many detailed reviews anywhere. Specifically we're planning on a couples massage, possibly the aromatherapy massage if we go with Saratoga Springs or the Grand FL.

I enjoyed my massage/spa experience at AKL. The locker area was small, but the steam room was great. The massage itself was really good - little chitchat, quiet room. I loved it!

Nodding at the AKL recommendation. Over the past few years, I have never had a bad massage there -- and afterwards you can go out and look at the animals. :thumbsup2

My dd and I had a wonderful massage at Coronado Springs. It was such a nice relaxing time for the 2 of us and really needed.

GRAND FLORIDIAN!!! :thumbsup2 Lovely spa and lovely spa treatments. It is all online on their website and you can call up and book very easily. :goodvibes

We're staying in AKL - what is the AKL massage facility like? We don't want just a "Dr's Office" kind of look/feel. A little nicer would be better. :)

I have done massages, at most deluxe resorts, have had several at AKL also... and I find the Grand to have the BEST by far!! due largely because Piper was doing them!!:thumbsup2
I like their signature massage!!!! I book the 80 minute one!!

go to the back left of the castle...if you see a guy in a yellow rain coat...say to him the pearl is in the strudel...he will give you a room number at the grand floridian where you will get the best massage of your life. plus, they will have a dole whip ready for you.

Then I would definately book there just for the convenience. I don't think it was Dr's Office-y.....The massage rooms were nice - candles, quiet music, cool. The spa area was not big - but when my mom and I were there, we were the only two people there. There were lockers where we put our stuff and were given robes to wear. There were iced washclothes for your face afterwards. The steamroom was really nice and the showers were strong. I haven't tried anywhere else but will be rebooking a massage during our next stay at AKL.

Thanks. We might consider that, then. We don't need to go crazy - especially since we're planning on spending a small fortune at Victoria & Albert's for dinner that same night, haha - but we want something nice enough to not make us think it is a Dr's office (both of us having gone through physical therapy that included some massage in the past in a PT office - want an experience that won't make us think of that!).

I emailed the relaxedyet.com people who run the WDW spas and found out that the AKL does not offer a couples massage, so that is out of the question now. Back to Saratoga Springs or Grand Floridian, I guess.

FYI: They were very quick to reply and helpful and nicely worded, offered to assist bookings, etc. in case you ever need to email them about the spas.

(I obviously really need this long weekend ahead, I have the giggles)

This made me totally LOL! :lmao::lmao::lmao:
