I am in the process of planning a Grand Gathering for June 2010. My little brother who will be 10 does not have any luggage so I was going to buy him a set for his birthday. Should I just get him a regular set at Wal-mart or something more geared towards kids? I just pack my kids' stuff in our luggage. I want this trip to be really special. We are treating my dad, stepmom, and little brother to a trip to WDW next year as they have never been here or on a vacation. My Dsis and her boyfriend are coming as well but they are paying their way. My family lives in another state so we only see each other once maybe twice a year. I am so excited that my kids get to spend time with their grandparents and Aunt & Uncle (yes their uncle is the same age as my oldest) We are all very excited. :cool1:

I found some nice rolling duffle bags at Kohls for around $20 last June, plus I had a Kohls coupon! Maybe something like that?

Definitely get him a normal piece of luggage with a matching duffle bag if you think he'll need 2.

At 10, my DS said he was too old for what he called "baby luggage". He had a spiderman suitcase. So I gave that to a friend of ours with a 4 year old and got my DS a regular suitcase.

Disney has great sets online. There is a blue set and a black set. The only recommendation I would have is to be sure that it has wheels. Our kids have always had their own luggage to drag through the airport. It really helps when they can handle it themselves. It makes them feel useful too. Have a great trip!

Both of my kids (ages 10 and 12) prefer the rolling duffles. One has one from LL Bean and the other has a Samsonite (they are the "medium" size but are wuite large easily hold a weeks worth of clothes for WDW or DCL or camp or grandma's house, etc.). Once I knew a duffle was what they would like, I looked first for quality (we travel a lot so it has to stand up to lots of use), and then for their fabourite color (DDs is Lime Green and DSs is Turquios). Here are the reasons they tell me they like the duffles:
1. They do not look like "old people" suitcases:lmao: but also not "little kiddie"
2. You can really stuff a lot of stuff in them.
3. They are comfy to sit on while in line at the airport:rolleyes1
4. They roll really well but are easier to carry by the handles when you have to than "real" (AKA old people:lmao:) suitcases.
5. They come in lots of cool colors
6. The squish down really flat under the bed at the hotel
Each has a a matching colored backpack from LLBean that they use for travel as their carry on, etc. (easy to sling on the handle of the duffle while rolling in the airport). Actual luggae sets quialify as "not cool at all" for tweens and teens so I am told LOL

You want to definitly get normal size luggage. My dd is 10 and she just got a new set for Christmas. I got hers from Walmart, whole set was $40. I am very surprised and pleased at the quality. It is a three piece set with a rollings suitcase, duffle, and messanger bag in bright orange and fushia pink flowers. Now, I don't recommend this pattern for a boy. :rotfl: Being a girl she so loves the messanger bag to carry on short car trips. Keep looking around and you can find some good deals.

Rolly duffle or a spinner suitcase. I get my stuff usually from marshalls, they have quality stuff at good prices. I love the spinners though we do have a few rolling duffles of various sizes. Luggage won't be exciting to most kids so I would go with something they can grow up with since they aren't likely to be frequent fliers and will be able to use it in years to come.

The L.L. Bean duffle bags are great. They come in several sizes and many colors. They can also be monogramed. Both my kids have had the medium size for several years and they have worked great. Each kid (age 15 and 8)can fit a weeks worth of their stuff in the medium duffle. These duffle bags have been to camp, trips with grandparents and many WWD trips. The price is also very reasonable.:)
