I'm toying with the idea of a cheap trip, and wondering what your suggestions would be for an offsite hotel?

I've always stayed onsite with Disney before in moderate.

I don't like the idea of International drive, as we tend to stick to West 192 when we've been offsite for meals, and know the area well. There's only 2 of us, so a rooms fine, we don't need a suite or villa.

Last January we stayed at Best Western Lakeside, basic but nice and clean, free internet, two double beds, TV, Fridge etc
I think it cost us £240 for the 14 nights. We only used it as a crash pad, as we were out at the parks all day. :)

So many good offsite budget hotels.
We have stayed at BW Lakeside 4 times now, great value resort but in recent years we prefer to be around LBV area.
Some like the Comfort Inn, we don't. Paid £20/night there.
We like Country Inn & suites, Fairfield Inn, Courtyard By Marriott, paid under £30/night for all these but it depends on dates. I am looking for Easter now and the prices are silly compared to rest of year.
What dates you looking for? what budget? I will have a look see whats available if you like.

I'm very flexable on dates, anytime April-May or Sept-Oct really. Budget wise as cheap as possible, though it must livable!

We paid £159 for the 3 of us to stay at the comfort inn, LBV inc breakfast, for 6 nights, the room was basic but had just been renovated so was very clean, as was the breakfast (basic i mean, not renovated)but for nowt you can't complain, it was within walking distance to various restaurants etc. We booked this through alpharooms, and i felt we got a bargain.
Also stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot at LBV and would also stay there again.

We booked the comfort Inn LBV some years back through Expedia and it was really cheap. It is a basic hotel but I dont think there is anything wrong with it, great location. The only thing I wouldnt do is eat there again. Dinner was very basic and breakfast was not really great, unless it has had an overhaul. If I wanted to go to Florida on the cheap I would not hesitate in going back to this hotel as you are only there to sleep and have a shower in the mornings:thumbsup2

We have stayed at the redroof on 192, not sure what it is called now as it keeps changing owners. It was a nice hotel.

I would check a few out on tripadvisor.com for reviews on some of the hotels you are thinking of using.:thumbsup2

I would sort your flights first, they are more of a problem for keeping cost down. When you have the flights/dates post again for help with hotel costs. Not so easy searching for hotels if you don't have dates to work to.

Another vote for the Best Western Lakeside. The rooms were fine, pools were great and staff helpful. Also he location is brill with lots of restaurants around and a Walgreens right in the parking lot. We really loved it.

We managed to get it very cheaply as a package 2 years ago - direct flights, car hire, insurance and accomodation for 3 £2400! Sounds like the cost of flights this year.

Ok we have tried this and it was the biggest mistake we ever made :scared1:
We are Disney fans we go to Disney
what about the Pop or All Stars ?
there should be free dinning around that time too
and remeber to add on the price of parking at the parks too each day , think it is about $12-$14 now

Conversely I had a great trip in a hotel which cost £18/night, and another great trip in a hotel which cost £21/night.....but they were both on I-Drive. The £18/night one was the cleanest hotel I have EVER stayed in. Spotless!

I agree with the others; the flights MUST be your determining factors. There are literally thousands of hotel rooms in Orlando to choose from; finding flights at the right price is the real issue. Oh and I highly recommend tripadvisor.com - that website and its reviews have NEVER let me down.

This is same for us, we stayed at ASMovies Xmas 2000, put me off onsite hotels. I said never again. Took me 8 years(13 or 14 trips) to try another, AKL which we liked but wouldn't want 14+ nights there. Last August tried OKW, tempted by the free DDP, now I have found somewhere I can enjoy onsite, hopefully 21 nights in August. Just could never spend that kind of money if DDP was not included, we enjoy a £20-30/night hotel offsite as much.
Some people enjoy onsite more, some offsite more. We prefer offsite.:goodvibes

we used to stay offsite, for budget reasons and it was fine...
we always stayed in the lake buena vista area, within 5 minutes of disney...

Country Inn and Suites is a nice basic hotel, with a free breakfast included. You can also use the pool at the Shearton Safari next door. Loads of places to eat nearby.

I don't know what price the Hawthorn Suites is, but they also have a free brekie as well.

Another good chain to consider is the Staybridge suites, although I don't know what their prices are like, in Orlando. Wwe stayed in one when we went to LA and really liked it, as you got a full kitchen in your room.

We really love the Marriott Fairfield at LBV. It's excellent value you get a breakfast buffet thrown in and only 5 minutes to Disney :)
