I've already put in a request for courtyards view but have been reading several posts about how large the resort it and the amount of walking it could require to get to your room. What wing or area of the GCH should I request to minimize this walk and still have a courtyard view?

Last week we stayed in room 4022. It was fabulous! Right off the lobby and 3 rooms away from the elevators. From the elevators it was just a few steps around the corner and down the corridor where the conference rooms are, to the DTD entrance. Our balcony view overlooked the courtyard and the monorail, and maybe best of all, we could see most of the fireworks from our balcony.

Our standard/city view room overlooked the valet/entrance to GCH. Our balcony was above the valet drive and looked directly across to the GCH self park. The view wasn't so great from our balcony, but we really enjoyed being able to open our hotel door each morning into the great hearth. It was a few doors away from the elevator and we never had to walk down a boring hallway to our room.

We had a standard view that was of the front of the hotel. Which wasn't bad really. We could see part of DTD, we could see the monorail go by, and we had a view of the PP, and DLH. It was kind of fun watching all the people coming to check in or leave too.

But the best thing was it was right off the lobby, barely no walking at all to the elevators. Right down below us was the lobby and it was a quick walk to the parks.

Twice I got the same room, theme park room 5432 I love that room, you see GR and the monorail go buy,, I wish I could buy that room to have to every time I go, I call it my room. LOL I think no matter where you stay it isn't bad, why, because you are going to DL :)

This is our first trip with standard view, so I'm interested in seeing what that is. We have had park view..right in front of GRR and it was great! Then last time DTD view which was also very nice and heard from a co traveler that you could se the fireworks from the balcony, but I think for so much of the show you need to be right there. I'm afraid this time the view will be disappointing, but I'm taking the family and paying for three rooms so the upgrade was too much.(No..we are not wealthy..I work a second job and sell on Ebay for vacations, and am very frugal in real life so I can splurge at Disney)
BTW..does anyone know where to get the views of the construction? I'd love to see how it's coming along and get some pictures for the DVC boards.

We once got a room facing the theme park GRR on a lower level -- floor 2. The view was obstructed by redwood trees, so they said it was a standard room, but it was very nice...could still see the grizzley and the trees were quite peaceful. Only thing was whenever you sat on the balcony you could hear the whistle of park tickets being checked for entry into DCA...not sure exactly how to replicate the sound, but when my husband makes it I smile and think of being on that balcony at GCH.

That was a great standard room.

can we request a specific room number at gch?

maybe the more important question would be... what is the likelihood of getting the requested room?
