Where would you recommend the best location to see fireworks if hopping over to Epcot between 7-8pm?

Is it necessary to “stake out” a spot? How long before?

We found a spot about 20 minutes before the show, between Italy and Germany to the right of the boat ramp. We had an awesome view! Definitely felt like it was less crowded back there than in Mexico or closer to the front of the park.

I don’t really find the need to ‘stake out’ a spot for Illuminations. There are just so many good spots all around the lagoon.

One bit of advice, don’t sit downwind. If the wind is blowing strongly in your direction, try to move. :-)

Where will you be before hopping to Epcot?

Really anywhere with a clear view and upwind. When we watch Illuminations we usually grab a spot about 10-20 min before. You'll have more than enough time arriving at 7

Agree with all the PPs. We really enjoy the view on the bridge between the UK and France if you want a specific example

Our favorite is Japan. The kids can shop for Pokémon until 8:55, which helps with the sitting still part. It's also usually up-wind too.

We used to prefer the Canada area, but 8 out of 10 nights, the wind is blowing that way. You are so much closer to these fireworks than MK that you will be engulfed in smoke and hardly see through the haze if you stand directly down wind.

The part about checking the wind direction before choosing a viewing spot is good advice.

I would not, however, assume that the wind will usually be blowing toward Canada.

It's also typically less crowded, being about the farthest point in the park from the main exit. But I'm usually not in a big rush.

You didn't state when you were going but we've never had a problem finding a good spot 15 minutes prior during mid-level crowd seasons. Have enjoyed it from multiple points. Just make sure you have open view towards center of lake without posts or trees directly blocking center.

I usually wait in Mexico about an hour before. We grab a margarita at the Tequilla Bar indoors and sit close to the fencing. We've also gotten pretty lucky in this spot as the people who managed to get there earlier than us always sit down for the show so we can see better. Also its a good location if you want to try to beat the crowd leaving the park.
