DH, DD 20 months and I are staying at SSR for 4 nights in April. We'd like the most convenient and in-the-loop location. We're probably not planning for pool time since it's a short trip, but I would like to feel like we're in the middle of the action if possible because the resprt seems so big to me (I'm used to BWV, WL, BCV, being able to walk to the lobby/food in a minute or two, and I don't think I'll enjoy being on the outskirts of the resort). We won't have a car, so we'll be using the buses for transpotation. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

The Springs is the closest to main area of check in and dining. Congress Park is closest to Downtown Disney and has great views.

There is an internal bus, so even though the resort is large, there is no need to walk unless you want to.

Truly some of the rooms at the end of hallways at BCV and BWV, are no closer to the lobby that the buildings at SSR are to the main building. It is all perception. If you have been able to get to the lobby at BCV and BWV in a minute or two, you have been lucky to get the closer rooms.

The Grand stand section is opening this week or next. Those first couple if buildings are a very short walk to the lobby also.

We stayed June 06 at SSR. BWV is our home resort. We were so used to being in the middle of things in the Epcot Resort Area. At SSR, we felt out of place. We did not enjoy the resort at all and found it too spread out. For the bus transportation to the parks, it was a total nightmare. They are supposed to run every 30 minutes between parks. It was more like a hour. :crazy2:

Wow its a shame that you had a bad experience at SSR...and im so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the resort.
SSR is our home resort and have stayed there 4 times....in those 4 times we have never run into any problems with the buses...sometimes we would JUST miss a bus, then had to wait for the next, but thats the breaks..lol.
I actually love SSR, and love the relaxed atmosphere.

To the OP..we have stayed in the Springs the last 4 times and have loved it...you will be the very last bus stop on the way home from the parks though :P BUt we loved beng close to the Carrage House and main pool!!!

So sorry you had a less than magical experience. I have stayed at SSR several times and never experienced anything close to 30 minutes let alone one hour.

I would suggest the Springs to be close to the action. Congress Park if you want the view and close access to the quiet pool. Walk from there isn't bad to the section of DTD that has Rainforest Cafe either.

Good luck, remember these are just requests. I've probably had my requests honored maybe 30% of the time. Now I just request non smoking and hope they are using room ready when I check in. I then pick where I want to be and let them know I'll wait if need be.

Wow is right! This thread got real negative in just 54 minutes. Is that a record?
Hope the OP gets the answer to their question soon.

We enjoyed the Paddocks over Christmas. We would like to try the new Grandstand section on our next visit. Personally, I think all their sections are very good; they all have different strengths and we look forward to discovering all of them!

If you want to be close to the lobby then request the Springs or the Grandstand. Either of those should be great for you!

Have a great trip!

We have stayed in the Springs section a couple of times and loved the location.
As for the bus situation we have waited anywhere from 5- 30 minutes but we have had many long waits for busses at BWV,too- sometimes longer than 30 minutes.

When is the Graandstand section due to open? It seems to be close to the main pool.

The Springs will be the best location for you. Its directly across from the main pool, Artist Pallet and check-in. Second choice might be the first building in the Grandstand Section, but I don't know where it falls on the bus loop.

Suppose to open at the end of the week. Its open to "testers" and other DVC guests. We walked over to the new building Sunday morning and it was full of cars.

I thought we needed a map here. Last December we stayed in the Springs, 1st floor in 3545... the exact middle of the building. Our room faced the lake between the two buildings there so we were removed enough to have peace and quiet at night, but close enough to be able to walk over to the AP and pool every morning. We'd walk by the busses every time (enough for me to play chicken every time I crossed the street).

As you can see the Grandstand section also seems close to things. As far as relative distance, if you ended up in the Paddock buildings by that bridge and wanted to walk to Artist Pointe for coffee it would be like walking from the Atlantic Dance Hall to the ESPN Grill.

The longest distance on the map (blue line from Paddocks pool to Congress Park pool) is like walking from Atlantic Dance Hall to the International Gateway. If you picked up the yellow line from there and walked to DTD, you'd be in Morocco as you continued through the International Gateway.

WOW! I am new here, just in the process of buying in to DVC. Is there really this much animosity between owners of different resorts? A feeling of being smarter or superior based on where thier home resort is?

Don't we all share the same passion? To provide ourselves & our families with many years of fond vacation memories, to perhaps start some new family traditions, and to make friendships with others, with whom we might not have anything in common in the outside world?

It doesn't feel very "Disney-ish" to me!

I haven't been on these boards long, but in my experience exchanges like some of the ones on this thread are definitely the exception rather than the rule. I don't think the posts in question accurately reflect the generally friendly dialogue you'll find on the DVC boards.

Have a great day!

A lot of people take resort threads like political threads. There is as much putting down the other resort as there is telling what's good about your resort. These people, like in politics are a very vocal minority.

I'd be happy spending a month at the All Stars. Not as happy as spending a month in a one bedroom, but that's me. There isn't a DVC resort at WDW that I would compare in any way to a prison term, or even a regular work day.

I just scroll past the posts like these.
