Best hotel or condo for family of 5 in Waikiki

Hello,

We are planning a trip to Oahu next summer (likely August) with our three children who will be 13, 10 and 8 years old. We would like to stay in Aulani for three or four days and the rest of the time (an additional week or so) in a condo or hotel near Waikiki beach. Does anyone have any recommendations for options for a family of 5 that are nice but not too expensive?

Look into the Ilikai, Ohana East or Waikiki Banyan. All are budget friendly and have kitchenette options.

I would also say the Waikiki Banyan, very budget friendly. You could also look into staying in other areas like the North Shore at condo/townhouse rentals through something like VRBO or Airbnb. You could also look at renting at the Marriott Ko Olina right next to Aulani for a week - redweek is a good starting place to look.

It's much nicer for a family of 5 than Waikiki! And as a renter from an owner, you won't pay for parking.

Trust me, once you walk around Waikiki, you see how much nicer Ko Olina is!

We own at the Marriott, and lived on Oahu years ago. Waikiki is quite noisy and busy, whereas the Marriott is nice and spread out, and a 2 bedroom is large. The pools are fun, and it would be a nice contrast to the Aulani stay. Aulani has the lazy river and tons of activities for little kids, but the Marriott also has activities and lots of free exercise classes on the beach. Also you can grill any time, and it isn't too hard to find a chair by one of the pools. The units are larger, so it's nice to have space.
