We are looking to stay right across the main gate of Disneyland. Are there any suggestions on which hotel is the best for value and experience? We stayed at the DLH last time, but am looking to save a bit this time.

Thanks.

My family and I really like Park Vue Inn. Directly across the street from the main gate, next door to IHOP, they have a free continental breakfast, clean, fairly inexpensive, no frills but nice considering the amount of time spent in the room.

We also stayed at DLH like you did and this trip in May, we are going to try the Tropicana. I understand it is pretty much at the cross walk over to the main gates of Disneyland. I believe there is a current thread on this hotel and it appears to have good reviews on tripadvisor.com as well. I will post when we get back (5/13).

I'm going to follow this thread because I'm wondering the same thing. We will be at Disneyland for 3 days, probably 6/19-6/21. I went ahead and booked 3 nights at the Best Western Park Place Inn at $143 (plus tax) per night. The main appeal of this was that it was the closest hotel to the parks and I have young children. I figured the closer the hotel, the better, at the end of a long day at the parks. If people think I should cancel and rebook elsewhere, give me some opinions!

I have stayed at nearly all the hotels right across from DLR, including Tropicana, Best Western Park Place, and Park Vue! They are cheap. They are close. That is all we need.

We preferred the Best Western Park Place for it's lobby and parking, but the TV was bad--not many channels and most were snowy in some regard. We love watching TV back at the room, sot hat was a bummer. Tropicana was the best price for a long time, and had better mattresses. I barely remember the Park Vue. I think we might have been near stairs or an elevator there, because I remember it being a little noisy in the morning when everyone is going to the parks (and we are sleeping in), but other than that, I have no recollection.

I would stay wherever I could get a cheap room. I am not there of the room. ;)

Price wise, for the tme we are thinking of going (Dec. 10-18), the HoJo was the best, but is it too far to walk especially at night when you are so tired. I would imagine it's about the same as walking to the Disneyland Hotel from the park. Anyone know?

I stayed at the Radisson Main Gate on my visit 3 years ago. Wasn't too expensive, nor should it be. The hotel didn't exactly knock my socks off, but it'll do when you need something close to Disney. Needless to say, I'll be staying at Paradise Pier this time around.

The HoJo is our off-site hotel of choice. We have no problem with the walk. It is a little difficult after a long day, but completely doable. It's about a 10 minute walk for us and I would say it's about the same as walking from the DLH through DTD to the Esplanade.

Here's a link to an article that gives exact walking distances. HTH!

Carousel Inn and HoJo's. We like Carousel for the quick walk to the park, they are right by the crosswalk to the parks!!

Have fun.;)
