i sometimes take a holiday job. I look more at the discount then the pay unless the pay is really good. Any tips. I'm considering Best Buy.

The best holiday job is no job at all. Just sit back and enjoy the holidays. I suppose if you want to work, work some place like bath and body works so you can give cute smelly gifts.

Goodluck

I always say i'm going to take a holiday job but haven't. I used to work the holidays many years ago and loved it! I thrived on the last minute chaos. I loved coming in to see all the decorations and hear all the music. I was going to apply this week to Macy's to work the holiday decor department. The problem is that I only want to work when DD is in school and I don't think anyone is going to go for that. Best Buy would be fun!

i plan the job around the discounts and it ineeds to be at least 30% to be worth it. Most holiday jobs are low pay. I did Bath and Body works last year. Bad job. They schedule most of your days as on call. You don't know if you are working til that day but you have to plan as if you had work. The closer it got to Christmas the worst it got. When it was the week before Christmas and I didn't know what days I was working I quit.
Borders does good employee discounts, i've heard best buy does and my kids are into electronic stuff now. It is fun and exhausting but if you started now you could pay for your Christmas without a credit card, and get extra because of your discount.

i had a co-worker who for years did pt at mervyn's every christmas. she indicated up front what hours she could/could not work. in addition to the employee discount, any holiday employee who made every shift they were schedualed for got a $100 gift certificate for the store.

i did gift wrap one year at sears-NEVER TAKE A JOB IN THE GIFT WRAP DEPARTMENT DURING THE HOLIDAYS-it's the pits!

BestBuy gives a healthy discount. I worked as an HP rep - and would sometimes be scheduled in a BestBuy store...

From talking to the guys I worked with, they rec'vd anything they wanted to purchase, at like 5% above cost (Maybe it was 10%) It was a super small percent - above cost....so like big equipment was dirty-butt cheap!!! And their pay wasnt THAT bad (I think it started at $10)

Best Buy would be a good choice - although open late and often during the holidays. If you can hack it - this would be an excellent choice!
