Can someone reccomend the best car for us. At the mo, we've just got the standard car from the Virgin Package?

2 adults
2 kids (11 and 5)

Probably 3 large suitcases and handluggage.

Thanks.

I would go with a minivan personally, lots of room for your family and the luggage.
You wouldn't necessarily get that from a saloon car.

If it was me I would book full size, thats what we almost always book. Just big enough for us in 2008 when we took DS school friend (2 adults & 2 teens)
Personally I don't like the minivans as much but if I get upgraded I don't refuse, depends what you prefer to drive and how much time you will be spending in it.

Bit of a squeeze for 3 large suitcases mate.

Probably depends on what car is allocated at 'full size' , something like the Ford Taurus 'aint that big in the old trunk department.
Minivan's are good because you can fold the third set of seats down.

Sorry Johnny, hit edit instead of Quote.

Never had a Taurus but all full size we have had would have fit 3 x23 kg cases, wouldn't fit 3 x32kg though. One we got when there were 4 of us was Dodge Charger, that fit 3 cases, 2 holdalls and 3 laptops in. Personally I would struggle to the hotel and back to the airport for 20 mins each way but like I say I prefer to drive full size for the holiday rather than a minivan. Also depends on cost, for us for 25 nights in August a minivan is £220 more, would rather do 2 trips to airport than pay that.

Another vote for the mini van. We even had a mini van when there was just the 2 of us with Joe as a toddler.

True it does depend on how much driving I suppose, we just automatically get a minivan as it suits us, especially with a wheelchair, bet I got more cup holders than you also. :goodvibes

re the cup holders, so funny, thats exactly what I was going to post, also, when we were there it poured, we got soaked EVERY day coming from parks, plenty space to move around and get wet clothes changed.
And I like the doors that roll, they are holiday doors>:goodvibes

Thanks for the replies so far. I guess im scared of how big a minivan is.... I drive a Scenic here...

I would rather pay than make two trips to the airport!!!

We'll only drive to Universal and KSC and non-monorail parks.

There not that big, I even drive the minivan!
If you book a dollar car using usrentacar etc then join dollar express- its free and saves you time queuing with the other 300 passengers on your plane who have a dollar car!
http://www.dollar.com/Express/MainNonMember.aspx

you will find that you will love driving over there and you'll be going everywhere in the car!!

I also drive the mini van and love it, I would even love one here. My friend has one and she is always the one driving it as her husband has a works van and she has no problems.

I always feel so much safer on the roads in the US in one as you are that much higher and feel a bit more significant when surrounded by huge lorries and big SUV's.

Hey,

2 adults and 2 kids will fit in the standard car (with luggae a bit of a squeeze!) But i'd probably reccomend at least a mid size 4 door car (UK equivilent: Ford Mondeo - or similar) Depends on your requirements and Budget though. I think a 7 seater would be slightly over kill though :P

Cheers

Arnie
