Can anyone tell me where we should go to get groceries near WDW without driving really far? I know not to go to Goodings. Thanks!

Just got back last week, there is a new Winn Dixie that opened on 535, turn past goodings, past the olive garden, its about 1/2 mile on right, past Sizzler and Walgreens. They have a bonus card deal, it took about 30 seconds to sign up for it.

We haven't been to the new Winn Dixie....perhaps we'll have to check that out next trip. We usually go to Publix....it may be a bit further than the new W.D. is....but most definitely avoid Goodings at any cost! We went in there and I nearly fainted at the prices! For what they expected us to pay, they should have carried my bags all the way to the resort and then cooked my food too! ;)

I always go to the Publix on 192 because the
prices are so reasonable. There is also a
super Wal-Mart further down on E 192 that I go
to if I am in the area. I agree with Snow White
about the Gooding's, don't go there. The prices
are just too high.

Publix for me.

I find that Super Walmart is way too stressful (crowded, loud, messy....), and really not worth the time/aggravation. Their prices were not that great.

Not a good way to start a vacation (for us).

Go to Publix.com and punch in the zip code for locations you will pas through and at WDW.
The site has maps and addresses.
ENJOY! :jester:

Another vote for Publix!

Because we stayed at OKW last year, we were able to stock up on goodies. We originally planned on going to Goodings, but their prices are ridiculous! We traveled a little further and went to Publix and had a BETTER selection for LESS money!

I am under the impression that Disney owns Goodings. When I did college program, that is where they bused us to do our grocery shopping. We always went to the super Walmart instead. Much better prices, and you can always get anything else you might need too

directions to wd?

coming from wdw ie the downtown disney area?

lookd likr hotel plaza blvd comes out to 535 at crossroad, then what?!

thanks!

We shopped the new Publix right across from the Premium Outlet Center and Winn-Dixie. Both were bright and easy to shop in. My girls liked to use the self-checkout and watch the video playing (Return to Neverland~won't have to buy it now ;) )

To get to Winn-Dixie, go along Hotel Plaza Blvd. away from DTD, towards Crossroads. Instead of going straight into Crossroads, turn left. The Winn-Dixie is just past the ABC market on the right hand side (past Palm Parkway), maybe 3 lights?? Easy to find! HTH :p

Can someone explain the post about the Super WM just south of All Stars? We were just there and were told the only WM close was the one on 192 by Medeival Times? (We didn't travel on 192- we used the road out from the Downtown Disney area). But is there a closer one?

We will not have car, will probably be staying at Courtyard DD. Not that we want to buy tons of groceries, but snacks, breakfast items, etc.

Definitely the Publix!! Winn Dixie...blech! and Goodings, of course being right their by Disney Village, is going to take advantage of that fact, and raise their prices.

Of course, if you are staying at Courtyard Marriott, with no transporation, you may have to go to Goodings, it is the only grocery store within walking distance, unless you want to get a cab, which will cost more money than you will save not going to Goodings.

Debbie: We usually shop at Publix, but since you shopped at Publix and Winn Dixie, which did you like better? Were the prices the same at both.

We have been to both, and Publix wins, hands down. Better selection, better prices, nice employees. I have been told even the employees at Winn Dixie shop at Publix...lol!

Tigger7570, I didn't do a whole lot of price checking, but I didn't find the WD more expensive than the Publix, but I was just buying odds and ends~milk, bread, veggies, fruit. Being from Canada, I found the prices to be about the same as what we have here-but in US funds.

I found a good selection of what I was looking for in both stores. The WD is new, and I found it very pleasant, easier and quicker to get to than the other from where we were (Courtyard). Once we had done both, we chose the WD over the other, but we don't have an alliance or problem with one or the other. (Here in Canada, I prefer Zehrs, and never shop A & P, so I understand where eeyore might be coming from ;) )

paduncan, eeyore is right, if you are thinking of walking, Crossroads is the only one within walking distance of the DTD hotels.
