For personal use I always buy Bubba Burgers, at Sam's a box of twelve is around $12. When we did community cookouts at our local airport for the pilots we always did the Sams boxed Sirloin burgers. They have a lot of grease though and are prone to flare ups. I hate to say it but with frozen burgers you kinda get what you pay for. The thinner ones in the multi packs tend to have more fat/filler and shrink up to hard little charcoal briquettes when grilled. We have bought I think it's the sirloin burgers in the bags at Sams for marching band cook outs. same thing, they tend to flare up no matter how diligent you are.

We, too, make our own - even if I want to freeze some for later use. I like to put my seasoning in the mix, instead of on the outside of bought burgers - makes for yummy eating!

Have never had any 'bought' burgers to come close to comparing - plus you don't know what's in them. I don't like the shrinkage either.

I buy the lean ground beef at BJ's. Usually the 90 percent lean. I make my own patties and freeze. They taste a lot better. For most recipes we use 93 percent lean but a burger needs a little fat.

This is us as well. I hate making patties, but it is so much cheaper. I also 93 percent for everything else. I used 93% for burgers one time and my family said they were terrible.

Great, now I am craving hamburgers. lol

We normally make our own but Bubba Burgers are very good.

I am not sure what kind they are but I have bought the quarter pound frozen burgers from Sam's and they were very good. We sold them for a church event and had lots of compliments. I think they were 24 or so in a box, they were the more expensive of the bulk burgers. If you make your own, don't go with anything over 85% or your burgers will be very dry.

We get the Butterball Turkey burgers. Delicious! 12 for about $12 at Sams.

We make our own. We use 93% ground CAB beef.

Ditto, Because we like them lean and taste of ground beef only. In Canada so I'm not knowing what CAB is.

We are considering Osteritch, suppose to be tasty, nutritious, and lower cal.
" " " Bison?

CAB = Certified Angus Beef

Bison is very good, but be careful not to cook beyond medium, or it will get dry and flavorless quickly.

Ostrich is yummy also, slightly more gamy, but a texture remarkably similar to beef.

Personally I enjoy elk burgers as well, your mileage may vary.

I usually buy the sirloin at costco in the sleeves for big groups and yes, you do have to watch you dont overcook or else DRY....and I only buy bulk like this for groups....
for my family, I prefer fresh, 88-90 lean, mixed in with pepper salt and peter luger ,,,,,cause the fat content gives it some flavor....

Good Luck and have a great time at you bbq

Another vote for the Costco Sirloin.:thumbsup2
In fact it's one of the only things I miss about my Costco membership. They aren't greasy and fatty and don't really shrink when you cook them and the price isn't too bad at all when you compare it to what you pay at the grocery store for a lesser product.
