What do you love for blister prevention/repair? I'm taking my 4 year old on his first trip in September (yay!!!!) and I'm not sure what to pack for blister care. I've always just used bandaids for me, but I should probably be more proactive this trip.

Prevention is best. Blisters can really spoil adventures. We keep mole skin on hand in case they happen, though. I keep a few pieces in my wallet so I always have them (and I don’t forget them back in the room), but all of the gift shops sell it, too, in the toiletry section. (Sometimes stores aren’t open though.) It’s good to have small scissors handy, too, to fit it to shape. I’ve used scissors in stores before.

I use a type of black athletic tape on the areas of my foot that would normally be prone to blisters...back of the ankle, right at the top of the shoe-line, the ball of my foot, etc. The tape is thin but provides good skin protection to keep the blisters from forming.

Also, do not underestimate the value of a quality sock and shoe. I swear by my Bombas socks and Brooks sneakers for Disney days. 25k steps a day and never a blister.

Blister prevention: I have to wear Crocs so I'm always on a mission to keep my feet as dry as possible. I spray them with antiperspirant when I get out of the shower, and once that dries I dust my feet with baby powder or foot powder (inside the crocs, too). Also, I always wear socks, don't care if I look foolish. For YEARS I struggled with large, bleeding blisters at Disney; I'd even get blisters under my calluses. I finally realized that I HAVE to keep my feet as dry as humanly possible if I want to avoid blisters.

If I feel a hot spot forming, I slap a piece of moleskin over it. I like the thinner moleskin, not the kind with the thick padding. Make sure to curve the corners of the moleskin so it doesn't peel off when you are walking. I find that Dr. Scholl's makes the best moleskin; store brands don't stay in place very well and peel off easily.

If I DO get a blister, I carefully drain it (poke the edge with a clean needle) so the surface of the blister is flat to my skin. Then I put a small piece of toilet paper or tissue over just the blister, and cover with moleskin. I use the tissue so the moleskin doesn't stick to the blister and pull it open when I take the moleskin off at night.

Leukotape is cheap and works amazing. Kind of like KT tape but not stretchy. Fantastic adhesive. Smooth slippery outer fabric that prevents hot spots. Breathable. Will stay on for a couple days, even after bathing.

Perfect for prevention and covering up hot spots.

Everything mentioned so far is great, but my emphasis is on prevention. If you take the steps to prevent them, they are so much less likely to appear (and need treatment), or if they do appear, they'll be far more manageable. High quality, sweat-wicking socks and breathable shoes are great. If (like my daughter, who is 5) the kiddo doesn't walk much at WDW, and spends most of the time in the stroller, that should help a lot too. Keep those feet dry! :)

Also, go to the back to school section of any big box store and buy a pair of the children's scissors with the rounded tip. TSA won't confiscate them and they are extremely handy for everything from moleskin to cutting price tags from Disney t-shirts! You can get a decent pair for about $2, worth every cent.

The best tape I've found is the "clear flexible" medical tape that is looks like it has tiny holes all over it. It's clear so it doesn't stand out, strong so it will prevent rubbing, and breathable since it has holes in it. I put it on my heel or ankle when new shoes are rubbing. Even after getting a blister it still helps a lot. It makes it glide over the area instead of rubbing

When doing a lot of walking I always find that a previously worn (i.e. broken-in), well-fitting shoe works best. You certainly don't want to bring a brand new pair of shoes you have never worn to Disney.

I buy this in "bulk" and always leave in suitcases. DS has very flat feet and difficult gait so blisters come very quickly. I use this tape (tape version of moleskin so not as thick) and make sure I cover all the weak areas of his foot. We change it out each day. I use it too and also keep the roll in my park bag. You don't even need scissors as it tears easily.

Any sort of anti-chafe product. We’ve had good luck with lathering feet up with foot glide, body glide, monistat anti-chafe and gold bond sticks. Monistat was the product of choice this last trip. Also secondary shoes if the first set gets wet. My kids switched to crocs a couple times when their fisherman sandals got wet. If the shoes have hot spots while being broken in try foot petals. Think we ended up with two blisters between 5 people last trip.

I put on mole skin on before I leave home. Already to a fair amount of walking , just from car to plane to car to resort to room. I used get tons of blisters, I'd rather spend an extra $10-$20 on mole skin than hobble thru a trip.

Thanks for posting this. Last couple trips, I got blisters from crocs, not in the usual spots. I think I"m going to try this for our trip next month, pre-emptively!! I do use the regular moleskin after the fact, but would love to not have to deal with blisters at all. Thank you for this suggestion.

Band-Aid now makes a bandage called "hydro-seal". It cushions the blister. You put it on like a band-aid, but leave it on for a few days (I forget how many). It stays on in the shower, etc. When you take it off, the blister is close to healed.
This stuff is awesome. I used it on my last Disney trip after developing a couple of blisters on the tips of my toes a month prior to the trip that had healed, but the dried/calloused area resulting in a crack that was painful to walk/stand on. Once I put this stuff over the callous/crack, the pain immediately went away and I could walk just fine at Disney.

I’m very prone to blisters but moleskin works great. I cover my “problem” spots in the morning as a precaution.

I wear croc Athens flip flops or my Arizona essentials Birkenstocks (the cheaper ones at $50) and don’t get blisters when I wear these.

If I’m wearing sneakers I swear by Feetures socks. They are awesome at preventing blisters. They are pricey for a pair of socks but they are worth it.

some good tips here...blisters have been my curse, even though I danced and had good callouses. I even get blisters from birkenstocks now

My daughter never got them when she was little. She was ready to keep going when I was in utter pain but trying to hide, but on her first adult trip she got them so bad they skipped their last park night. So I feel like I have to get on top of this for both of us. I just got blisters between my toes on the weekend from a pair of flip flops that I wore all of last summer, and I was only walking for half an hour. I'm not sure what it is that makes us more prone to blisters. She was a dancer too and that didn't save her, and my husband has never had one.

The only things I know that definitely work are using body glide on areas that feel tight in your shoes, and switching out shoes a couple of times each day, usually sneakers to sandals. Sometimes socks help for me, sometimes not. I honestly think I would be better off walking in bare feet all day. since we visit in February I wear uggs around the resort at the end of the day, and even sometimes at the parks if we go in the evenings. I never get blisters from these but they aren't enough support to wear all day and they would be much too hot.
